Tomorrow night at 7pm at Colchester's stadium
Reckon a few first team players who didn't feature yesterday could be involved as we don't have a game midweek

One slight disappointment this season with such a strong squad and a winning team has been the lack of players coming through the ranks (though you could argue it’s Shipley’s breakout season).

How have the likes of Ngandu, Bapaga and Burroughs been playing? And any others who were tipped at the start to break through this year.

Don't forget there's a few out on loan

On the outset it seems ngandu and Bapaga have gone back to under 18s/development footy which I totally get. Hopefully next season a loan out and then see what they got.

Think Williams is going to be the next 'mccallum' style breakthrough

Williams has got a chance
Eccles is probably the stand out player recently
And Joe Newton played a full season in men's football at 16 so I won't be surprised to see him break through in due course

Poor Beezy can’t catch a break.

Have the more attacking prospects stalled this season?

I always think it's hard to make the breakthrough as an attacker. Judged by goals and assists it seems. Bremang for example banged them in at Nuneaton, now not scored for leam yet in about 6 appearances. Does this mean he won't make the grade? No but we are all looking and hoping he fires a few in and then steps up next season.

It will also be harder to bring players through if we get promoted.

True but would players like Shipley have ever got any playing time, looking back at our Prem time not that many players came through but the ones that did were top level like Kirkland

The problem will be now if we get promoted how many chances will our youngsters get because we will have possibly more expensive players to make way for them

Cov 8/5 to win tonight. If we've got Jones, baka, hiwula, Eccles and Co playing... Surely we'll have a great chance of winning?

Looks like Colchester are playing some first team guys too
Details below including entry charges

7pm kick off at the JobServe Community Stadium for the young U's.

This evening’s visitors are without a win since the start of January, when they beat the league leaders Watford U23s 2-1.

Colchester United U23s are still looking for their first win in 2020, having been defeated 4-1 by Charlton Athletic last week in the Premier League Cup, with Sammie McLeod on the scoresheet for the U’s.

The young U’s are currently ninth in the table, while the visitors for tonight, Coventry City are third in the table and could go second with a win.

In the reverse fixture to this, it was the Sky Blues who took all three points win in a 3-1 victory, with Michael Fernandes netting the consolation for the U’s in the second half.

Richard Hall’s side will be looking to turn the tables against the visitors this evening and said:

“We lost last week against Charlton, but will put that game behind us to focus fully on tonight’s opponents.”

“The lads will be up for it and looking to put in a good performance at home in front of the first team management.”

“It will be a tough game against a good opponent, but we will be looking to do all we can to take three points tonight.”

U’s: Ross, Coulter, Scarlett, Kensdale, Weaire, Sowunmi, Moore, Hyde, Ager, Campbell-Ryce, Clampin, Norris, Fernandes, Poku, Senior, McLeod.

cant believe they bet on such matches
Was watching a programme last night, about a guy trying to beat the bookies
The only successful strategy was Tennis. Somebody sitting in the crowd, betting on the outcome of the next point - and entering the bet, before the umpire had chance to enter the score. To keep this going over time, they then had to continually purchase betting accounts from students
Fascinating, but at the same time showed how easily it was for a "normal" person to become a wreck due to gambling

Oh yeah gambling is evil as anything. But if you have an edge you can win. Our edge here is we don't have a game midweek, better days has said first teamers will feature so you put faith in baka, hiwula, Jones, kastaneer and maybe even Giles getting minutes and taking it seriously. 2/1 with us 3rd in league and them 8th, I'm willing to take a punt

Thing is if anyone tries to have anything other than a fairly smallish stake on the game or they see a rash of bets coming in the bookies would quickly change the odds or withdraw the market

they will sit back now
too negative
no under 23 team in this league would take any of our strikers
no subs made yet
concerned at the lack of goals
we are drawing too many games
players that have left the under 23's have go on to score elsewhere, like max
we should be beating teams like this
