When he is match fit, reckon he'll play upfront on his own, with McG on the wing in a 4-5-1 (Robins' favoured system) or upfront with McG in a 4-4-2?

McG obviously flavour of the month and rightly so but would agree with this - we need to get our OWN strikers on form and getting the goals - McG could be on his way in a couple of months we need to develop what we have

I would much prefer him in a 4-4-2 with McGoldrick.

Me too.

McGoldrick seems best when he's got opportunity to roam a little. We tie him down to the left flank that could limit his threat to the opposition.

Why not make the most of his services while he's here though? I know we need to get our own strikers scoring as well but what's the point in stick McG on the wing when we could have him up top scoring as many goals as he can in his remaining time here? Would help us out no end!

Totally agree - we need to do both - just don't want a big hole opening up if he does go

Exactly, so the best option would be to play McG and Cody in a 442 IMO.

Exactly, otherwise there is no point having loans. I'd rather use him for his goals while he is here

Want to see |Cody do well and scoring goals but between injuries and lack of chances not sure it will happen for him at Coventry. if he plays he needs another up front with him it will suit us better. I think Cody can score goals but time will tell whteher robins has the faith.

I can't tell you its fact SBD but can say that from a conversation one removed a member of the squad remarked to said person at a social event that their personal salary was based on a basic ,with a balloon payment every time they completed a set number of matches ,so there is potentail to manipulate such a large squad of players to not recieve the balloon payment ,however they could be shit and not worthy of the shirt.

I see. Bringing baloon payments into the team selection process is a crackpot idea, and I can't imagine that MR would have anything to do with it. I also can't believe that he would tolerate any interference from others in team selection.

I obviously can't clarify as it is essence hearsay but have no reason to disbilieve who was told this info ,but like you ,the thought that it would make financial sense to bring in 4-5 loanees to cover playing positions of players with this element to their contract seems illogical ,unless they're virtually free and as you say would MR implement Sisu pay strategy at a cost to the teams strength, maybe they're not playing as they're not good enough, but this is Sisu we're talking about.

Ball and Mcgoldrick are doing a decent enough job at the moment

rumour some body posted on here last month saying that his friend who is a cov player said he's not being picked because of the managers choice.

I wouldn't say we're playing a straight-up 4-4-2 at the minute. It's more like 4-4-1-1 with McGoldrick in a free role. He links up with Ball but also drifts to link up with the wide men.

I just can't see Cody and McGoldrick working as a partnership.

Probably conjecture - he has never been first choice anywhere except in League Two

We need him up front and nowhere else. Its clear when he plays up the top he can find the goal but as soon as he drops back we lose that threat.

Edit: i forgot this was a Cody thread. My reply related to McGoldrick. Oops!

Ball & McGoldrick are playing well in a 4-4-2

Cody will have to wait his turn

Have Cody and Ball up front. Put mcGoldrick in midfield. That way he will get less goals. Forest will think he is still shite and will be happy for us to keep him. Then we put him up front again

I can confirm what Wingy said and I that I have also been told the same as wingy via a life long friend of a player that the appearance bonus is active and it was here before Robins

You mean that sometimes, it's not the manager's choice who plays? How naive of me thinking it was Robins who decided the team.

I have a feeling that this Appearance bonus will be the end of Cody's career at this club.

Why would they want to keep him when they can't play him for fear of him scoring and them having to pay out money because of it!

Just think what might have happened if Shaw had been allowed to play him, we may not have lost as many games we did!

Just another case of SISU not thinking like football club owners and rather like businessman!

They talk about wanting promotion but wont play what could be our highest scoring player because they don't want to shell out everytime he plays and scores lol

*Shakes head at the futility of the situation*

I think he'll eventually come good, but at the moment Bell and McGoldrick are working up front for me.

I think someone who has got everything right they posted so far, said that he returned from the summer over weight.
After the Tranmere match finished he came over in front of us in the away stand and did a warm down. He did this after the squad went in the changing room. It definately felt as if he was making a point.
The overweight bit I find dissapointing if true.

Cody worries me, how many game has he played for us? Yes he looks a threat, but can he play say 10 games in row without injury. I am wondering if he is the solution.
