After watching quite a few vids on Cody it seems he relishes playing with a big man upfront. The goals at Gills were scored with a big man battering ram type of player who is good at flick ons and holding it up for Cody.

Now I am not Platt's greatest fan but that is one thing he does very well and for Cody to be 100% he would be a more natural strike partner than the Juke maybe?

It would certainly be worth a try

Maybe even Juke and Platt up front with McDonald at the tip of the diamond pushing on? He looks good with the ball and pacy so he might be able to make those overlapping runs that our midfield don't like doing at the minute.

It would be interesting to see how this would work. As you say, we need pace coming from deep and we just don't have that.

If he did play in the hole in behind the strikers that would mean Bigi probably being dropped as Sammy would sit in front of the defense.

At the minute we have juke holding it up but nobody bombing on for the layoff! Mcdonald might be the man for that hole?

I might phone at and ask him to try it!

Personally I'd drop McSheffry instead - as he's really meant to play in that diamond.
Team (with Cody in diamond tip):
Murphy
Christie - Keogh - Cranie - Hussey

Clingan

Baker (I guess) - Bigirimana

McDonald
Jutkiewicz - Eastwood

We looked miles better against 'Borough when Bell went off, hence putting Baker in - on the hope he finds the form he once had!
In does lack some width, but if you watched us vs Watford then all our crosses came from Christie and Hussey - with Bigi spreading wide when needed. They won't need to run as much with McDonald though if he's racing into the box onto through balls along the ground.

This was exactly my thoughts, I might work but we will need some decent service. Not sure Baker or Bell are capable of that

Nah, it'll be Juke and McDonald. Juke holds the ball up well enough I would say, and he's not exactly small! And if anyone should get dropped from the midfield it's probably Baker (I'm not one who gets on his back, just hasn't started the season that well I'd suggest).

ffs has everyone lost their marbles this morning? Does nobody ever remember having seen Platt play before? He's a useless lump who is barely good enough for the league below.

One thing that Platt is good at is flick ons that are directed. When he was getting a run last season he was winning headers and putting them in great places, we just didn't have anybody in those positions running onto them.

It has to be worth a go, even if they just try it in a behind closed doors game to see if it works.

McDonald and Juke up front with Eastwood just behind might be good too!

The one thing Platt was good at was decent directed flick ons into good areas. I even recall a couple of chest passes.

It's because none of our players were outside in the car park ready to pick up his spooned flick ons

One thing you don't see is crosses been won, corners or from in play situations, platt could nip in with a few headers as well as flicking on.

Whenever I think off platt I think of that fantastic goal against bristol city what a finish that was!

Mcsheffery done that very well at the end of the last season as shown by him getting in the box to score 3 in 5 under AT before he was injured. If he can pull his finger out his arse then he will be back there.

Why would we drop the Juke for Platt? Madness

I really think that juke is going to be the man to hold it up. Cody will get his goals, juke will still get 10-12 this season with Cody getting 18(providing he can keep his form from Gillingham going) Juke will run to the ball and thenhold it up, Platt waits for it to come to him, he won't run for it.

i would also be an advocat of jukebox and McDonald up top with freddy just behind, i could see that work nicely, as freddy`s link up play is decent just not the finishing

Looking at the YouTube vids, Juke is his best partner IMHO

Who were our main strikers at the beginning of last season before MK arrived, and the goals were flooding in?? Nuf said!

Have you watched them?

The big black guy was a similar style to Juke & supplied most of the goals

The goals were never 'flooding' in last season until we got rid of that idiot Boothroyd. We only scored more than 2 once under him. Yes its sh*t now but have some faith in Ronald's lad.

As for Clive Platt, I always thought he played far better away from home. I'm not implying anything, this is merely an observation.

i see you point, but my point was to do with the period we wnt without MK at the club. The goals soon dried up when we changed our team to accomodate him. Oh, and im more than happy with McDonald being here (unsure if the last bit was directed at me / my comment, or just in general. Id have been happy whoever the striker was we brought in).

Some of you make me laugh, we sign a goal scorer (albeit in league 2) and your talking about playing him in midfield at the tip of the diamond. Thorn's already said he likes to play off the last man.

I think eastwood and juke started the first 4 or 5 league games, the eastwood got a knock and platt then started the majority before king signed.

That is because Turner and Gunnarsson were banging the goals in though before MK came in though. Turner and Gunnarsson had 4/5 a piece before December.

Juke is still here because the Parkin deal fell through.

He will be sold in January along with Clinigan.

Clive diamond-head statue useless lump Platt was not "banging the goals in" before MK arrived. His sum total for the season was 3 !!! As for his knock-downs, players couldn't read them because he had no idea himself where they were going. He is awkward to mark, but teams soon learnt we and he were so one dimensional under AB and it was far too easy to combat. I saw him pre-season against Leaminton and he even looked out of his depth there. Quite how he has even made a career out of the game is beyond me.

What are you on about? Parkin was part of the Turner deal. At least make up conspiracy theories that make sense.

Just because it's beyond you is no reason to be negative about our players. Obviously the managers who select him can see something you cannot. Platt is a team player and I, like others am a fan of his.

Cheap big target man that AB brought with him from Colchester. We would have off-loaded him but nobody else wants him.
