Anyone else like him back at the club? Perfect player for us surely, quite fast, has a good header and a godd finish, and maybe our new midfielders could be the perfect playermaker for him. Anyone agree?

No thanks. He isn't technically good enough to play in Pressley's passing side.

I was thinking that lol. He knows where the net is (sometimes) but never did it for us.

He still wouldn't fit in with the way Pressley wants to play, it's not just about being about to pass, but the runs you need to make, your first touch and being able to hold the ball up. Cody is at his best playing up top with a target man in a more direct style of play. We won't be playing that way, so I maintain my line of thanks but no thanks.

We lost a lot of money on him both in transfer fees and wages, I wouldn't like to resign him.

I may be wrong but didn't Pressley say at the start of last season that if he knew he was going to be playing 2 strikers he would have kept Cody? So surely that indicates he can play how Pressley wants?

I read that more in the fact that we only had 2 strikers and no cover, and Cody unlike Elliott who had already left was still under contract in the per season, so it was more about having another body than Cody.

And IIRC that was in the build up to playing gillingham so some of that will have been PR, he did add at the bottom of the article:

“But, as often happens, players come back and haunt their previous clubs. But, as I said before, I really liked Cody and he’s a good player.

“Some managers move players on not because they aren’t good players but because they don’t fit the system and philosophy. Certain players suit certain styles. I see a lot of players do well in a certain team and then move to another team and don’t. He just didn’t have the DNA that we wanted.”

Another player that I thought was a good signing but didn't do it here, wouldn't have him back but think he will score goals for Gillingham again this year. Also one huge stumbling block he is under contract and that will mean a transfer fee and can't think we are going to see any of those this year!

No, cost us a small fortune first time around in wages and fees, we'd be crazy to make that mistake again.
