I know we're skint and trying to "live within our means" as an excuse not to sign any players, but have this board not got the nouse to realise that the only way they will actually make any money (if they don't get promoted lol) is actually to open up the cheque book and let Thorny spend and not the reverse?
Our one golden asset appears to be in Thorn's ability to unearth gems and not necessarily in the coaching or management. I would bet if they gave him his head, he could go out and sign a number of players from his scouting missions that would improve the squad and that could be sold at a later date for profit.
His proven track record of finding players on the cheap, that we can sell on for a profit, may be frustrating for us, but put the club in a whole lot better position than we are in right now. Turner, Juke, Clingan will all increase in value if the club is doing well and our position not look so daunting. We accep they'll probably be sold at some point as will the kids and Cranie and anyone else they can get a few bob for, but with no replacements there will be nothing left to finanace the losses and probably in a league lower.
Let him spend, lets keep being a selling club, be open and honest and one season we might get some luck and just do a Blackpool. At the moment we look more likely to do a Bradford.
