i think this season we are really really missing him, possibly the most important player to go in the summer. missing his flick ons as he wins everything in the air and his hold up play.

what do you all think

Yes, totally agree.
After the second home game I posted a similar thing saying we miss him and his power upfront.
I think some underestimated just how good he was. Obviously he wasn't a goalscorer and lacked pace, but his work rate and strength were immense. His first touch was class also, I'd have him back now.

He was brilliant last year. One of the few players to work hard last year and great for grinding out a win. Been banging them in for Northampton.

I agree. He got unfairly slated in his time here. Standard procedure really.

Won everything in the air? He frustrated the hell out of me because of his inability to win everything in the air, when rightfully he should've. Glad we got rid of him.

With our midfield so deep they were almost standing on the goal line, I'm not sure even Platty would be able to hold it up long enough for anyone to support him.

Scored 0 in the leaague, L2 that is whereas Elliott, Cody, McG have scored goals.

I have to admit people were harsh, myself included, but the fact that he was useless was justified. Barely held it up, weak for his size and goal output and assists wasn't good enough last year! (4 goals, 1 assist)

This comment is a wind up isn't it?

Of the players we had, you'd take Platt back over juke? or Keogh?

Hahahahahaaaaa!

Platt rarely won a header! Calumn Ball is a far better player.

Clive Platt is slow old and has never scored goals at any level.

Yes of course we are missing him more than Keogh and Cranie. With Clive leading the line we will be in the play offs no problem.

I thought Platt was an honest player who worked hard, but I find it tough to get too nostalgic over a striker who helped us score the next to no goals that saw us entrenched in the relegation spots all season.

I'm not saying we are missing him, I'm saying I would rather bring Platt on with 10 minutes to go if we needed to go long. Ball at 6ft3 should win at least some of the balls knocked up too him, yet he doesn't. Very similar too a young Jon Parkin

Parkin is a far better and more effective weapon than Platt.

Which is why he was on £9.5k per week whereas Platt was on less than a third of that

Parkin is absolute garbage now and I would argue he pretty much has been for most of his career.....would have Platt ahead of him regardless of wages. Though think both along past their best......overall prob made right call on Platt thought I was a fan....and def glad we did not blow wages budget on big fat John Parkin

i loved platty he was one of the players which wanted to help the club and he would give 110% would take him back no hesitation for a place on bench though

Glad we havn't got Platt anymore if i'm honest.
We can't carry a striker that doesn't score enough goals.

so even if he was able to play better than his actual ability, as you claim. you'd still only pop him on the bench?

he's shit, we need goalscorers. A fit Cody and McGoldrick may well be good enough.

we need players on the bench though don't we? and you would rather Rod? ball could be a better version of platt but he hasn't played enough, platt get the ball down and plays other people into the game.

I'd have Platt over Ball everyday of the week, from what I've seen Ball is fat and very unfit. At least Platt was built like a brick shit house and won his fair share of balls. Tbh McGoldrick, Cody, and Elliott are miles better than both of them.

I also thought we've been missing him, especially the shef utd game - we were crying out for a big man up front who cna hold the ball up or win headers

I'd rather not have the need to play a lump up top. We need to get the ball on the ground and move away from the philosophy of having a 'big man' to win knock downs.

He's still playing - probably available if he can find someone to look after his holiday park.
