He did ask him if we had any imminent signings, he answered no.Yes of course it’s possible that the club said to Rob that Frank won’t answer questions on specific rumours or targets but it would be odd for the club to ban any questions at all on the transfer window.
“ I’m sure it’s a busy time for you Frank juggling coaching, match prep and recruitment discussions. How do you find the time and are we getting closer to securing some of your targets ?” All very bland and positive but an easy to ask question …,
To Robins credit he would often let out the odd calculated snippet because he knew that fans thrived on it and it put a bit more pressure on the recruitment team to get deals done …
I just can't see Oggie as the cocaine and prostitutes type myself though
I hope this thread doesn't descend further into misogyny. It's easy enough to criticise someone who is underperforming and/or in the wrong role without bringing their gender into it.
Apologies I didn’t hear that part of the interviewHe did ask him if we had any imminent signings, he answered no.
I agree that a general question should have been in orderYes of course it’s possible that the club said to Rob that Frank won’t answer questions on specific rumours or targets but it would be odd for the club to ban any questions at all on the transfer window.

Then say 'the twat' for her as well. What did you want me to say? She's female & she was the commentator last night - I'd usually say 'the twat' or something similar if it was a bloke
The say 'the twat' for her as well.
Say what you like, just don't get annoyed when you using different ways to describe women commentators to men get you described as a misognyst and neanderthal.Stop telling me what I should say - twat

At the stage where we could do worse than pick one of the better ‘influencers’I think it’s fine to say it’s shit and you don’t like it - I found Lorna insufferable during the Sunderland games at the end of last season.
I can appreciate this might be an assignment forced on her and us because of cost cutting - but it’s still shite. When I listened last year it felt like it dumbed everything down.
I hope she is able to find her feet and add something to the coverage, but right now between her and rain cloud Rob Gurney it’s not an engaging or enticing listen.
That Anthony person or AndyCovAt the stage where we could do worse than pick one of the better ‘influencers’
MattSB seems ok also. It’s not ridiculous really, though I’d still prefer a neutralThat Anthony person or AndyCov
Nothing to do with Lorna's gender, she just sounds too much like an overeager fan to me. You have to maintain some degree of separation as a commentator/presenter.There's a definite whiff of misogyny in many of these comments. Surely gender doesn't matter and it's competence in your job that counts? Who of us is fully competent on day 1 in a new job, or not affected by nerves, especially with thousands of people listening and ready to criticise? Why can't be have a bit of patience while the new team finds its feet and give them a chance.

So if you think a bloke is doing a bad job he's a twat, and if it's a woman she's a female? What did you want me to say? She's female & she was the commentator last night - I'd usually say 'the twat' or something similar if it was a bloke
You’re not really understanding your own comments pal. I can think someone is shit without making it about their gender. You clearly cannot.I'm convinced some posters are trying to act like a virtue-signalling 'white knight' when they're blabbering on about misogny
Exactly.So if you think a bloke is doing a bad job he's a twat, and if it's a woman she's a female?
I think so. You said nothing wrong.I'm convinced some posters are trying to act like a virtue-signalling 'white knight' when they're blabbering on about misogny
I've heard people on cwr who are blokes who are terrible as well because it's their job to present daytime, happy clappy stuff. It just doesn't translate to football and it's a bit American.
Plenty of people above have criticised Rob Gurney, which is of course fine. But can you imagine any of them following it up with "The male commentator on SKY last night was shit too"?I think so. You said nothing wrong.
Clive is a legend, but remember when he started......be interesting to recall some of those comments.
Need to give Lorna time, think its her style that need to change a little, sure it will.
- Look at Simon Thomas who took over Soccer Saturday, great presenter, everyone hated him last season, hes starting to grow into more, but its a thankless job following steling.
TBH I have more an issue with Gurney, acting like a scorned fan having a tantrum at times last season.
