Don't want to heap too much pressure on the youmg man but imo he has shown everything our skipper hasn't in 'his' role. Sammy is neat and tidy but the speed of CT's movement of himself and the ball whilst still doing the simple thing has imo made a huge difference. This is not meant to have a pop at Sammy and he definitely still has a worthy contribution to make here, but on current form if SC was available tomorrow I would keep him on the bench.

I'd have both keep Thomas as DM then push clingan further up the field like this
-----------------------------------------------------Thomas------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------Deegan----------------------------new CM in the market or Baker----------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------Clingan-----------------------------------------------------------
That would stop clingan passing backwords and have more shots could even swap baker and clingan and put clingan alongside deegan so he could still go forward:claping hands::claping hands:

the last 2 games we have played better without clingan. thomas has everything about him to become a great player for the club.

Thomas every time. Sell Clingan in the window if we can but I think he's holding out for a bosman.

Thomas. More mobile than Clingan which has shown in last two wins

Swop Sammy for someone, as for Thomas he has it in his locker to be a top Sky Blue and if this takeover has or does happen may be able to stay here and blossom. He was quietly excellent today not an obvious man of the match but did his job. Big fucker too

Let's be honest if CT was not upto it Liverpool would not have been sniffing around him and had him at their place, which could be to our advantage for the time he was there he would have learned a lot and improved his game.
Good luck to the lad lets hope his career blossoms and hopefully in sky blue for many years may become our stevie g in years to come if and when the takeover takes place.

I think we all need to remember Connor Thomas is only just 18 so i would still bring someone in an experianced guy, someone like a Shaun Derry for example to help get us out of this shite we are in. Thomas is a future star IMO but this is a harsh division.

Bale was 17 and ran the show repeatedly. If you're good enough you're old enough and Thomas is more than good enough.

Both.

Thomas is a superstar in the making though. The boy can go as far as he wants.

Thomas is still not the finished article but I would prefer him to Clingan at the moment. He is a home grown talent and a Cov kid to boot with plenty of passion. I can see him being a future CCFC captain. Needs to add goals to his CV which I am sure will happen.

Clingan has not been as good this season and I think the off field problems have affected his performances. He is no spring chicken and will not want to be playing for a struggling team towards the end of his career. I would play them together for the rest of the season in the middle of the diamond with Deegan and Baker with Biggi dropping in for an alternative attacking option.

I think Clingan is the problem! Much more team cohesion with him out. Thomas for me every time! PUSB

I was a bit worried about Conor to begin with because I couldn't see why he had so much hype around him to make Liverpool interested in him but since Sammy's been out he's really come into his stride. He's got the full package; height, pace, ability, timing etc and can only get better so I'd keep him in the squad over Sammy who has been poor this season.

So will not many be bothered now if Sammy went?
Should we just cash in on him now while we could get a fee for him?
Is the team performing that much better without him in the side?

I think we should cash in on him while we can get some money for him otherwise he will go for nothing, also if a takeover is to happen, should he be offered a new/revised contract, he has been unwilling to sign any new contract upto now if one has been offered that is, so he obviously is not that commited to the club (I understand depends on what was being offered to him regarding wages, contract terms) and also should a takeover happen should we not want the new board looking for new/better players for a big promotion push next year and intigrate the young players into a new squad where they are learning/developing their skills alongside better players and not the other way around, where the young lads are showing more skill and determination than most of the senior/experianced players.

CT seems to be a more than adequate replacement for SC, and the longer Sammy is out injured, the more entrenched in that position Conor will become. But I would not be in a hurry to cash in on Sammy - the other young lads have shown that they sometimes need a rest and Conor could be the same. What if injury strikes? When Sammy is fit again, I think he'll be on the bench and have to wait for an opportunity to claim back his place in the team.

I think he will walk straight back in the side you don't keep the captain on the bench if he's fully fit but would like to see clingan in the AM role he does have a great shot

Yeah, I see what you mean - having the captain on the bench is less than ideal! I'd forgotten that Sammy was the captain! But if Conor stays where he is, and Sammy is elsewhere in midfield, who do you suggest drops out? AT would not want to change too much of what has been a successful side. It will be a thorny problem for him (pun intended).

I wouldn't play sammy now and think we could be a better team without him. If he wants away then that makes the decision even easier for me.

It would be obvious who would drop out bell or baker but I'd swap clingan for bell in the starting line up any day

I'd put Sammy further forward

Thomas IS a player with genuine quality, he looks so assured for someone so young, his positional awareness is incredible.
He makes a difficult game, look very easy, simply by playing the right pass or winning a tackle (a dying art) I predict a big future.
As for Sammy not a fan, I feel he flatters to deceive with little or no end product.

With regards to CT's age - Gunnarsson was only 18/19 when he first joined, and had arguably his best season for us in 2008/09, when he was at his most inexperienced. Yes, Thomas is young and will need a rest at some point, but on current form he should be starting every game.
