COVENTRY CITY are braced for Leeds United to return with a late transfer deadline day bid for club captain Sammy Clingan.

Simon Grayson asked about the Northern Ireland international availability during the summer but was rebuffed by City bosses.

However the Telegraph understands that Clingan is once again attracting attention from Elland Road - and could be the subject of a late transfer deadline day bid.

The 27-year-old, who will be out of contract at the Ricoh Arena at the end of the season, joined the Sky Blues in 2009 for an undisclosed fee.

would certainly explain the text i got off my cousin this morning saying that whilst in a meeting in Bewleys Hotel in Leeds this morning, he saw Sammy Clingan in a suit, talking to 3 other people.

Clingan is that different class which we cannot afford to lose. Hes our midfield equivalent of what King was. Clearly something better than what we have, and we simply wouldnt be able to replace. Not to mention we should stop selling all our captains.

CCFC - ignore that text - the deal will be done in Ireland - which is where clingan is at the moment

Shit, didn't know that, he is off for sure, if not now in January.

He'll be off, looking for a payday by all accounts so it's sell now or he goes for free.

So if everyone goes today we should have made about £4m? Turner - £1m, Juke - £1.5m Clingan-£1.5m maybe another 750k or so if Dann goes (or has he already). At least we'll know admin isn't on the cards until July.

I'm not in the slightest bit worried if we lose Clingan.

I am sure we must have another 17 year old kid in the academy who is ready to slot straight right in.

I think it might be a case of not looking at the press today and then looking tomorrow to find out who we have left

I keep telling myself it can't get any worse, but it somehow does!

Wait for Gael going to Man City on loan with a £1m deal in the pipeline if they like him.

Lets be honest here, Clingan is not going to sign a new contract. I'd hate to see us end in another 'Keiren Westwood £0 in' situation.
