Clingan has finally secured a contract.

A month to month rolling contract with LEAGUE 1, Doncaster!

Best of luck to him - he's now gone so lets cheer on the stars who have replaced him - Jennings and Barton

I don't know what happened to him at cov.
Allways thought he was a decent player but he went down hill big time towards the end.

Looks like he struggled a little to find a club after leaving us, grass isn't allways greener.

Good luck to him,he's joining a club who's serious about going back up,unlike the sack of shit that is ccfc. I don't get the let's take the piss out of former players threads. The only way is up after leaving the shit sky blues.

A good player who lost form with us but when back to fitness is definately a championship or higher quality. A very good signing for them and a big loss for us as we need someone like him at the moment!

Not from me. Never fulfilled his potential and wound his contract down because he thought he could do better.

He is an ok player, will do well in this league. Had an overinflated value of himself though, his level is that of a bottom half championship player

I can't say that I agree there Paxman.
I don't see us needing a player like him at the moment, think we are more in need of a midfielder who can put a strong tackle in and break up play.

When he first came he was quality. Last season he was shite. Shame really. Good luck to him but I'm glad he left.

When was he saying he could do better?

Good luck Sammy.
Always one of my favourites.
No evidence that he thought he was better than he is ... Merely prejudice.
Midfielders graveyard, the Ricoh.
No midfielder leaves with his reputation enhanced.

Got to disagree Paxman, relegated with Forest, relegated with Norwich and then ultimately relegated with us, I would suggest he has found his level now. Talent wise I would probably put him at championships standard however it takes more than talent alone.

Ok so you believe Doncaster are paying him what he was asking for at Cov

He obviously thought he was too good for league 1 football hence the long time it has taken him to find a new club when the realisation of how good he is fell upon him

And Gunnarsson and Norwood would disprove your last sentence

Norwood was not our player
Gunnar was a kid with no reputation at all when he arrived. Neither were better players when they left than when they arrived, which is my real point.

I would disagree, I think both improved whilst here

What you cannot deny though is that there reputations were much enhanced when they left which is what you said first

Perhaps you should accept that kids don't count as they are unknown when they arrive and unless they are useless the experience they gain will make them more accomplished players.

Maybe you could name a midfielder we have had who arrived on a transfer, who was not a teenager and still left with an enhanced reputation?
My point is we have produced goalies, defenders and forwards who have but not midfielders who were not kids like Bigi or Gunnar.

Perhaps you should accept you were wrong

"My point is we have produced goalies, defenders and forwards who have but not midfielders who were not kids like Bigi or Gunnar."

I don't get your point here if we buy someone who is already established and relatively proven i.e not an inexperienced kid and they leave with an enhanced reputation then how have we produced them?

Just stating I was wrong is not the same as demonstrating it.
I accept your qualification of the original point: "No midfielder, who comes in with any reputation, leaves with his reputation enhanced."
Gunnar was unknown. Norwood was from Man utd, highly rated, and is now with Huddersfield.

I rest my case.
