“At the moment I'm 14 players down compared to last season * that's not an excuse, that's a fact, something we have to deal with. But we showed the lads the video of all the good things from saturday and we'll take that into what should be an interesting game at Palace.“

Thorn confirmed that Freddy eastwood and Ben Turner are both making encouraging progress, although neither will back in the first-team picture until after the international break at the start of september, but he won't be asking former skipper Lee Carsley to come out of retirement.

“That's not a route to go down,“ he said. “We need to move on and Lee is doing a great job with the under-18s.“

I get the feeling Thorn isn't helping himself, help is offered and he turns it down, I get the feeling sadly if results go against him he will be gone. Tonight will be very tough now if injurys reduce the squad side!

he possibly wants to mould the team in his own way and does not see old players as the way forward, although at the moment anybody that is fit will be in the team !!!!!

AT would have to walk, there is no way SISU will pay him money to go, or pay money to get anybody else in.

Carsley player manager in a few weeks

Good job we are getting down to the bare bones near the end of the season rather than early doors with the situation only likely to get much worse.

If Thorn is of the opinion that Carsley is past it, or even that he just plain doesn't rate him, why should he even contemplate playing him?

I don't get this continual Carsley love-in. We were relegated from the Premiership with him in the side, and he played a handful of games last season before he spent the majority of it injured, thus proving to be a huge waste of money.

I agree with Kuklinski, Thorn as a scout must have a good bit of knowledge on player ability. Who are we to act as if we know better. I think Carsley in the site wont help at all, he isn't the kind of player we need, coupled with the fact that he's way past it.

I think Thorn is safe. If we'd been hammered and played poorly for the first two league games then fair enough, but the opposite was true. Although the results have gone against us, the displays have been encouraging. We just need more bit in midfield (even I miss Doyle now) and a forward as with all the will in the world Juke ain't a twenty-goal man.

What is the "he has been offered help" about?

If people heard what Carsley said, he said in jest that he thinks the club still have his registration. He didn't say "I really want to play again".

Watching videos of the best bits from Blues on Saturday? Shouldn't take too long.

I watched it on the box and we dominated Brum, actually carving them open on a good couple of occasions. Do not fear for tonight - 1 point minimum ointlaugh:

I can't believe i am saying this.....but i aggree with Kuklinski!!

If it was Dublin,Keane or even Huckerby i would be asking why not, but Carsley. Not really the missing piece to our Jigsaw.

In fact it is so bad at the moment, we have the missing piece it's the rest of the Jigsaw that we dont have :claping hands:

I think Sisu wouldn't pay the extra wages to play Carsley... Thorn couldn't say " the cheapskate feckers wouldn't even cough up the difference in wages to help out our already depleted, injury ravaged and in truth, just not good enough midfield"...
