Please can you point out his name to me in todays lineup?

Coventry City: Burge, Smith, Henderson, Donald, Pegg, Garner, Lawton, Wiseman, Baker-Richardson, Richards, Maund.

Subs: Roberts, Daniels, Fagan.

I doubt he would've fallen out with Thorn given that Thorn coaches the first team and not the Youth squad.

He has been released. Officially. Nowt to do with Telegraph reporting, it's on the CCFC official website.

He's being released yes, but they still had a game on today. They have simply told him he won't be retained. Why wouldn't they play him today?

Surely giving the lad a chance to impress scouts of any other clubs who could have been there before he goes.

Ugh, another brilliant prospect released. I could do a better job than the clown who chose to release him at judging potential! Sick of this. I would like to hear an official announcement, and hear who was the bright spark that said "Lets not give our top goal-scorer a new contract! It will give us a fighting chance in L1!" I was feeling a little confident about L1, after someone pointed out to me that we still had some bright youngsters, and was looking forward to seeing him play. Fantastic move. Idiots.
Now who have we got up front? Oooh, 2 strikers, a burger van employee who eats all the stock, and 2 youth strikers. Perfect!....

The 'clown'(s) would almost certainly have been Carsley and Rioch. Do you think they're doing a bad job with the academy lads then?

We are playing really well, I admit, but surely you cannot justify releasing 2 fantastic prospects. You watch now, he will bang in 10 goals in the first team next season. Just our luck, tbh.

Despite a difficult season for the first team squad; the academy has done well - both on its own terms, and with the players who have migrated into the first team.

Frankly speaking, I trust Carsley and Rioch totally, and whether he was given a contract or not - considering the bigger picture of his skill, influence on others, demeanour and focus - would have almost certainly have been their call

If he signs for Reading, I will guarantee he won't score 10 PL goals, in fact I doubt he'll make a first team appearance for Reading other than a tokenistic appearance in the carping cup.

To release one good striker and one potentially excellent striker, while retaining the services of Shaun Jeffers and Callum Wilson is an extremely short sighted policy. The latter two are never going to make it in league football in my opinion!

Any one think he might have an agent ? Telling him he's to good for us . Seems strange that he's gone straight to Reading.

^^^^ On Kevin Thornton, I remember a few years ago when he started on me outside Bodrum in Leamington, because me and my mates were chanting at Elliot Ward. He was quite shocked i knew who he was and quickly backed down. He was a tool, sadly did show potential but another who never achieved.

Not sure what's worse talking to Thornton or eating at Bodrum!

"Go straight to Reading, do no pass go, do not collect £200".

I think that his head's been turned too-and more to the point, how can we keep anyone out of contract if, as a side under embargo, we can't even offer him a new deal?

Yep.

Think why people are so peeved here though is that;

1. We need goalscorers
2. the lad is the leading scorer in the academy

And most importantly

3. There is so much more onus on the kids now as we have no money and are dependent on players coming through from the youth set-up.

Would really like to know what this supposed disciplinary thing is to be honest.

It can be irksome when we give people like David Bell extended contracts

Given our situation though one would have expected at least one run out in our depleated side surely?. We could have judged how he looked alongside other players in the first team.

If the question is "Who ate all the pies?" Then we can indeed start pointing the finger at Andy Thorn once again.

He's said on his facebook that Reading is just a rumour and that he doesnt know what he did to be released and that "England U18 standby obviously isn't enough" which is exactly what Jordan Willis was but he is good enough. The whole thing is quite perplexing tbh.

Well he would say that.

Obviously something happened.

End of... we move on.

interesting that Courtney Richards was released as well. Thought he was meant to be a good prospect?

Probably one of these lads who bang a few goals in for the youth team and think they've 'made it'. Probably too big headed.
