My arrival was two days after a 4-0 thrashing of Southampton - but followed after two days by a 0-3 humping by Stoke...
I wish I was more than one month old so I could have derived some sort of pleasure from our last top 6 finish

We were herded in by the police unfortunately.

One of the reasons I gave up on away games. All your freedoms taken away.

Is it the same now?

yes, the team have taken away our freedom to have an enjoyable day out.

I was more peed off by the fact that we would turn up at a town or city and the police would be waiting for us. Didn't matter if it was just you and your mate, ALL the fans would be gathered together and herded and marched to the ground and you couldn't break rank.

Remember going to Stoke and being herded and we went past some shops and my brother broke rank and started to go over the road to the shop wanting to buy a drink and the police told him to get back in line. You couldn't do anything at all other than go to the ground. It was a case of be marched all the way to the ground and all the way back. No freedom at all to do anything different.

Used to hate it.

Remember them days well. Stopped wearing my colours and blended in with all the locals a fair few times. Backfired once though. Can't remember for sure who it was but was herded in with our opponents supporters. Was totally surrounded so couldn't say which team I was there for. Then when at the ground nearly got arrested for being with the wrong supporters. Quite enjoyed it though.

Just thinking it might an idea on the thread to include ON the day you were born as well, rather than just before or after.

City played on my birth date.

Which Gibson? If Terry I was at that game and gathered a lot of loose change from Manchester United fans. They are always gracious in defeat.

Pretty annoying situation. I had to wait 54 days for first league game, Coventry 2 Barnsley 0.
Even more annoying having to wait 65 days for first FA cup game, worth the wait though 5-1 win away at Lincoln, the most postponed game in FA cup history.
All consequences of being born first day of 1963 in one of the coldest winters of 20th century.

Sad to say all gone downhill since then and unbelievably in a lower league despite me seeing 34 pleasurable years in top league.
SISU OUT!!!!!!

I was born on a Wednesday. The Saturday beforehand we beat Southampton 4-1 at home and the Saturday after saw a 3-1 defeat at Bradford.

I wish I was young enough to say we were in the Premier League at the time but sadly (for me) it was the old Division 3 !

FA Youth Cup Final Replay.

We drew 2-2 against a very talented Spurs team containing Steve Perryman and Graham Souness. Alan Green scored.

We lost the 2nd replay 1-0 2 days later.

David Icke was in our net, Alan Dughall and Denis Mortimer also played.

Extra info-My auntie went out with Denis around this time!

My nearest game was the first game of the 1947/48 season. A 4-1 win against Luton Town in Division 2. Welsh centre-forward George Lowrie scored all 4 goals for us.

Charlton played at Selhurst for a few years til the early 90s, the Valley was condemned. I think they moved back when Wimbledon moved there from Plough Lane.
