Ii think if they do move then 95 per cent of the fans won’t travel to support the team – why should they?'

Coventry City legend Dietmar Bruck
Coventry City legend Dietmar Bruck says he despairs at the plight of the club he helped climb to the top flight of English football.
Born in Danzig but long since adopted as a Cov Kid, Bruck was the Highfield Road apprentice who became a cornerstone of Jimmy Hill’s Sky Blue revolution.
But he is appalled by the bitter backroom battle that has seen club owners Sisu threaten to quit Ricoh Arena and build their own stadium, describing it “like a horror movie.”

Bruck, who signed our ‘City Must Stay’ petition on the first day it was published, predicts that 95-per-cent of City’s fans would vote with their feet and he accused the warring factions of behaving like “little kiddies” by refusing to negotiate.
Failing that, he says, there ought to be a takeover because he insists Sisu are “out of order” with their threats to move the club out of the city.
“It’s just a crying shame,” said the 69-year-old.

“This is my club and always will be, and to see what has happened is unbelievable. It’s like a horror movie.
“We have got a great bunch of supporters and we always have, and the people running the club are out of order really because it’s the fans who are suffering in all this.

“I must have been one of the first to sign the petition because I did it on the first day that the campaign was launched.
"We have got to stay where we are – there must be some way of getting round the table and negotiating.
“They are like little kiddies at the moment – one of the biggest problems is that no-one wants to give in and that’s the worrying thing about it.
“I was at a meeting with Tim Fisher last week with other ex-players and one of the things he said was that we can forget the Ricoh, it’s as simple as that. He said we are not going back to the Ricoh and that put the frighteners on me to be honest.

“I think if they do move then 95 per cent of the fans won’t travel to support the team – why should they?
“It’s worrying and time is getting on. The fixtures are out next week.”
Bruck, who had ten years as a City player and chalked up almost 200 appearances, added: “It really upsets me.
“I went to Ryton for the meeting with Mr Fisher and I was there as an apprentice back in the old third division and I was part of that set-up in 1962 when we played our way up to the first division.

“I think it needs a takeover but goodness knows what the administrator has got to sell because it appears to be a non asset.
"But whoever gets the opportunity to buy it will presumably have to pay megabucks to get what is really needed, and that’s the whole lot with the stadium and making profit from the food and beverage and all the corporate side of things.
“The one thing I will never understand is when the football club moved from Highfield Road to the Ricoh, how on earth could anyone in their right mind sign that contract given what was involved.
“It’s unbelievable. That’s when it first started and it has got worse and worse.”
