To be fair, the club have brought it on themselves a little bit with the expectations. They were quite happy to cash in on the feel good factor with their #risetogether and suggestions of back to back promotions (when the early bird STs were on offer)
Robins: “We need to keep moving forward together. We don’t want to sit in League One, we want to be pushing for promotion again to the Championship."
Fisher: 'We are going to give it a go as we don’t want to be down in League One'

I think we wouldn’t be happy if they didn’t say something positive I guess?

Part of my problem this season in particular is knowing what kind of expectation to even consider, I've never seen us promoted before in my life.

We are a team on the up, no negativity here.

Another pre-season nearly finished and after our first promotion for a generation you’d think all of our fans would be itching for the new season to start, beaming with the positivity of last season.

Not quite-what is it with City fans and their negative mindset?

Jumping on any news and spinning it into a suicide note.

The manager’s rubbish, the new signings are rubbish and we have a really poor team not fit to grace League One.

Most of them blinded by a SISU hating hood.

Has it really got that bad that now City supporters delight in watching us fail?

For some it is easier to criticise than celebrate, to carp than cheer, to shout profanities than shout encouragement.

Even in City’s darkest hours (and there has been many) we are safe in the knowledge that a brilliant moment is not too far away.

So please, change your mindset, support your team, encourage our new signings and for god’s sake smile and look forward to the best time of the season-before we have kicked a ball!

I agree with you on being positive but are you basing the feelings of a negative mindset with fans from posts on here??

Because if you are, keyboard whingers on here equate to less than 1% of our entire fan base!

I’d say we are optimistic. It’s obvious we need 1-2 strikers and that’s it. Pre season is fitness, minutes and trying things out. It’s absolutely no indication of how you’ll do in the league. I say the same thing this time every year.

People spending too much time on the internet. Out in the real world I've encountered nothing but cautious optimism. All this teeth gnashing over internet rants by brain-dead millennials (in the main). Really?

I was struck last season by how the supporters stuck with the team. A handful of games where it turned a bit, Chesterfield away and FGR at home spring to mind, but overall we really rallied when it mattered. Focus on that rather than being over sensitive to throwaway comments on the internet.

In the real world I've seen loads of "who are they playing this week"

Really hope we can continue this success and get some of the lost fans back and attract new younger fans

I can’t see any reason to be pessimistic or have a doomed outlook

A ball has not been kicked in anger yet . This could be a very interesting season, it is important to get a good squad , it’s more important to get the right players so let’s see .

Top half or better I reckon as it stands which is good given recent history and I for one am one of MR biggest critics

Why be pessimistic ? forget McNulty for a minute but none of the others who have left will be missed, the squad now when you add in Andrue and Jones is flexible, young and all positions covered also with good experience too. Get McNulty replaced and I reckon we can be the surprise package this season. But fans must be patient I remember being as low as tenth last season. Players will take time to bed in, some will be quicker than others and almost certainly Robins won’t find another 28 goal machine but he was the only one to reach double figures we need three or four to do that

Sisu can do one-let’s get that straight and I’m not on Facebook or after likes which appears to be “the norm” when they are criticised for some reason?
Anyway, I think we will finish around mid-table which I think most being realistic would take now as that would be a sign of good progress. McNulty will obviously be huge shoes to fill but it is now up to the others to fill that void.
