Accusations Made Against City Supporter Because He Fitted The Profile - Coventry MAD

Didn't we have something like this during a game at Sixfields too?

Edit: League One: Chinese man detained over alleged betting syndicate fraud

How does the scam work? Betting on markets before they're suspended?

I'm sure a few blokes got caught at Newcastle a few years back.

As tv pics were delayed they could bet on certain sites that were watching a feed a couple of seconds behind.

Think a lot of major bookies have someone at most games now.

You would have to be quick to do that on your phone in the cold.

I suppose you could have certain bets lined up, i.e. Penalty awarded- have 'Yes' selected £20,000 ready to place, pen given, click before the in play suspension?

Not really a scam though is it? If you're quicker than they are then it's their own fault.

I have, quite unwillingly, done similar before.... watching a stream of a game and a penalty is awarded, so bet on them as 'next team to score'..... the bet was paid out and then later recalled. Bastards. Although admittedly no more than a fiver, it's not like I was whacking 20 grand on it....

Were you at a game with a Chinese mask on?

I've done it before myself. It's not a scam, if the betting companies don't supply someone for the game with instant updates, then they only have themselves to blame. Surely it's a civil matter anyway and doesn't need the police as no crime has been committed?

I wonder if you'd have got your fiver back had the team missed the pen and the opposition scored next.......

Yeah I managed it on a Spanish game last season or season before. I think it was la Coruna scored and I got on before they suspended next goal betting.
Was a tenner and didn’t change my life drastically

Don't see how there can be a problem with that, which is essentially just someone getting information before someone else and traders who operate high frequency trading do exactly the same.
