the council had a deal with London councils which meant 15% of houses go to London people who they dont want basically. this includes, kids expelled from school. this was a few years ago. since then the London kids have come up, they have started a gang called rb7 this gang run the drugs. most are Somalian and if you go on youtube and search rb7 Coventry you’ll see it

I can't believe the council would do a deal like that. When was it agreed?

That's ridiculous, the waiting list is already high in Coventry, and theres a lot of families from cov being temporary houses in b&bs as theres not enough social housing before you even consider giving 15% of it to Londoners.

There was an item on the news the other night about the nationwide increase in crime.
There were parts of Essex where it was 39% which is eye watering although they did say some if it was down to changes in the way crime is reported and recordered but still, 39%!
Someone really needs to get a grip of it because it's clearly spiralling out of control.

And I've just been woken up to a bang as somebody has set somebody's car on fire in tile Hill.

This city is going wayward very very fast

My Polish neighbours packed up and left their flat yesterday. Smashing couple lived peacefully got on great with them. I asked them why are you going ? They replied they didn't like the anti social stuff here in Bell Green etc. They must be desperate as our block of flats is down to be demolished to make way for redevolpment, and we all get good moves and compensation, so they miss out on that now. He said they're moving to Tile Hill. Hope they have made the right move then ?

That will be London and Central govt driving and incentivising things
Wolverhampton similarly is mopping up the gentrification and benifit reduction of the Capitol
Re the rb7 seven connections I have it on authority from my daughter who worked until last week at the Watch charity in Hillfields, of which Hillz fm is a part, that the band have done their utmost to distance themselves from an element of their followers they don't wish to be associated with.

If I hadn't been ill last weekend I'd have liked nothing more than watching the instigators of hiphop/rap down at Godiva festival on Sunday afternoon (Sugerhill gang
Nothing like the modern incarnation and it's sinister tones and themes.
It was last WE wasn't it? Lol

Sugarhill gang were disappointing to be honest mate, crossover noise from the rhythm tent didn't help.
You were better off snoozing in your armchair, (and FYI, it was the weekend before!)

I’m actually a Grime fan myself. But these lads up there aren’t actually grime as far as I’m aware. And they also aren’t particularly good either.

But then I’m 35, and most of the Grime artists are around my age and used to be garage mc’s in the early 2000s so I guess I’m way to old for these lads target market.

The London thing has been happening for a few years all over: London councils trying to force homeless families out of capital

Sad that we are part of it, but also understand that local government funding has been decimated recently so councils don’t have much choice but to be “money focused”.

Also is rejecting them wouldn’t lead to them staying in London, it would just mean they go somewhere else.

But wouldn't part of you think "why are London willing to give us money to take them?" They must be getting something from it - reduced crime statistics, lower policing and social costs etc. So whatever we'd be getting to take them on would be costing us more in police costs etc.

Housing costs in London are through the roof. And developers offer sweet cash to London councils to avoid the requirement to build a social component on new build developments. So places like Kensington and Chelsea are cash rich and have too many social housing applicants.

Besides, you *really* don’t want a council that when faced with vulnerable people their first thought is “they’re a bit dodgy”. I work with some big social housing associations and they certainly don’t view their tenants like that because there’s not the evidence that most of them are trouble.

Also worth pointing out, if just to trigger ccfc4life, that it’s not actually the council that do most of the social housing in Coventry. It’s Whitefriars, Orbit and the like. So it’s probably them making the decision.
