Eric Black
Gordon Milne - although not sure why he left to be honest?
Sillett - no way to treat a club legend and replacing him with Butcher was a disgrace

Less so but Dowie - they were looking for a reason to get rid of him as soon as they took over and his replacement was fucking awful in comparison.

Agreed on the replacement SBD! I thought Dowie was rapidly running out of ideas though and the team was becoming painful to watch - although as you say in a long list of culprits "less so" is about right.

Roland Nilsson - Thought he was decent and had a lot of potential

Dow was on a horror run - a classic boom and bust manager

Nillson was doing a decent job and we were in a play off position. The hierarchy decided to bring in Jim Smith to work alongside him, we then went downhill.

Orange Ken Dulieu sitting on the bench in full coaching gear - stupidly fired as it was absolutely comical.

I personally wish he was still there just for entertainment purposes.

Noel Cantwell - Highest ever top flight position leading to our one and only stint at competitive European football. Sacked two years later

Phil Neal, was doing a decent job, sold Phil Babb and bought in Deon Dublin which proved to be a master stroke, But got the push, because that useless fuckwit big Ron was available. That turned out well!

Agreed, SISU's initial few years with that dickhead Ranson in charge were effectively ruinous in the long run

In two minds about this, the team under Neal was going backwards despite Dublin's goals. However, Atkinson was the wrong choice, great PR at the time but he was a busted flush as a manager by then.

Phil Neal always used to refer to us as 'your team' rather than 'our team / my team'. It was such an annoying habit, and always made me feel like he didn't care. IIRC, he was challenged on it once and said that it was because Liverpool was his team, not Coventry City.

Showed it was more than potential since as well. If we lost Robins I’d have Nilsson back in a heartbeat.

The writing was on the wall for Atkinson when he immediately went to the wrong dugout.

Didn’t Jim Smith promptly go on holiday the day after we hired him? Should have stayed on holiday.

Have to be honest aside from Black and Nilsson it's hard to think of an FL-era manager who was unfairly sacked. In fact it's probably easier to think of a few more who were left to go after their sell by date

No. Although he was here for one of the worst periods of off field nonsense.

Any one remember Pressley falling out with Reda Johnson over the colour of his piss?

I’m still pissed off that we appointed Chris Coleman as manager in 2008 when we could of snapped up Dickie Dosh!

Coleman’s football was absolutely dire to watch , never been so bored when watching that! Although I do like the guy , his tactics were awful

He was awful for us. The Sunderland netflix summary summed him up pretty well. Talks a good game, but its all bluster. Its a travesty that with the players he had playing for him that 17th was as high as we finished.

Not sure the Marcus Hall situation was his best move either during what proved to be his final game when we were getting hammered by Watford.
