Guns don't kill people, people kill people. knives don't kill people the people do that. More gun control laws will not change a thing. The right for people to bear arms is a fundemental freedom. I say again...it's the peole who kill not the weapon in their hands.
Should we bring in knife control laws in the UK? Would every chef need to carry a license? It's people and their sick heads that need sorting out.

You're in absolute denial and are part of the problem.
And as for your knife analogy, if we took the same approach as in the States we would be calling for more people carrying knives to solve knife crime.

And with regards to chef's needing a licence, my son is a trainee chef. He has to pack and carry his knife roll in a very specific way and if he was ever stopped by.police and it wasn't he'd be in trouble.

I've worked as a chef and I've never heard such nonsense.

When did you work as a chef. I can assure you it was the first thing he was taught at college. The roll has to be strapped up and it has to be at the bottom of his bag. Ring Henley college and ask.

As for cultural differences, what sort of person thinks their right to bear arms is more important than stopping the regular massacre of innocent people, often school children? You have to be a physco.

We have knife control rules. Just too easy to circumvent.
Also the ongoing debate about stop and search doesn't help.
Knife crime has escalated because more of these kids are carrying them because others are. It's become self perpetuating.
Chef knives - someone already has to prove they had a legitimate reason for carrying one. Work etc.

I presume you have the evidence to back this up? You can cite numerous countries where increased gun control has led to a rise in gun crime and similarly numerous countries where loosening gun control has led to a decrease.

Get ready to see it here. Both sides of the Atlantic the far right have realised that most things are conventions based around the idea we’d never elect an extremist and they can just ignore it. We know they share notes and act as one with republican strategists and activists helping the Tories and visa versa.

Add in an electorate who is incapable of sensible rational discussion thanks to social media and conspiracy theories and dark times ahead.

Is it easier or harder to kill more people in the same time with a semi automatic compared to a knife?

Even when they are fully trained it can bloody difficult to identify the shooter. Easier if there's no shooter in the first place

The whole of western society and law was originally based on interpretations of vague ancient texts dating back thousands of years written in a dead language, and now referred to as the bible.
In fact many people in the middle east are killed every year for violating the laws of the Koran, so America isn't unique in hanging on to historic dogma.

He'd surely be on seriously dodgy ground with many of his supporters if he got involved in a war somewhere. I don't know if they still have organised militias in the US any more, i'd have thought that was a big part of the thinking behind any right to bear arms when it was written.

The thing is, Guns are designed and manufactured for the sole purpose of killing.
You have to ask yourself, why would any sane person want to carry one in public?
I'm sure we've all witnessed crazy acts of road rage, from time to time, imagine how these situations would pan out if guns were common place here in the uk.

We know what would happen, it did happen. It was Dunblane. We restricted weapons after it and it hasn’t happened since.
