Good some more money and wages free then. Strikers please SP.

FYI Bailey went to Doncaster was it I read. Connor Salmon would be awesome in this division btw.

I would take either £500,000 or Connor Sammon.

Sky Sports understands Derby County are poised to sign Coventry defender Cyrus Christie on a free transfer. Christie's contract at Coventry expired earlier this summer and they will be due a compensation fee as the defender is under the age of 23.

Good deal for all involved really. Wouldn't mind a player from the deal as well though.

He played for donny yesterday. When the take over is sanctioned by the fl, he'll sign for them as will Peter clarke

great move for Christie, he should get into their reserve side no problems.

I'm struggling.
Why is loosing one of our better players a good move for us, particularly as we are unlikely to replace him with a player of his quality ?

I doubt it. He hasn't got the finesse or final ball to play there.

Because we are likely to get about 500,000 for a defender that can't defend

£500k !!

CCFC were quoting a 6 figure sum. I would suggest it was nearer £100k than £500k. My guess would be £200k with add ons if he goes onto play 100 games for barcelona

He's not one of our better players. He was dreadful after he got his injury (in October).

We started to defend properly and inexplicably he was brought back in and we conceded a load against Bradford, Tranmere and Rotherham.

He doesn't want to stay at the club and it's best for all parties that he goes.

We've got a ready made replacement in Philips or Clarke. Neither look inferior based on what I've seen of them.

I disagree and here is why. He is young and still learning, bags of pace and ability with agility. A bright spark for us last season for sure and although I do agree he is not great at a cross or defending in general he is very talented and very young still. He has got a move to a much bigger club than us in a higher division and I think that's proves the proof is in the pudding.

The club asked for £600,000 or round go to a tribunal, so it will be substantially more than you are suggesting.

Absolutely! Cyrus came back in at the Wimbledon game in the FA Cup and I still can't get my head round why.

Aaron Phillips was the best right back we had last season, in his four/five games he defended well, got forward well, marked brilliantly and his timing with his challenges are exceptional, plus that goal against Wolves!

Bags of pace and agility but I am sorry the lad can't defend. As I stated above our best right back last season was Aaron Phillips and that was by some distance!

Cyrus has a lot of hype going for him and if he signs for Derby I wish him the best of luck but overall of the Right Backs we used last season (Willis, Christie, Phillips & Clarke) Cyrus worried me most and was caught out so much, the performance against Tranmere at Tranmere was Conference standard..

Derby fans must know something we don't....

I rate him highly, can play right back and centre half and is still young. Reckon Steve will show his potential.

Very highly rated.

Great news, this kid is highly rated. Didn't see this coming.

Highly rated. Seems like a very capable player for RB cover.

HIm: He gets his move. Good luck and all that.
Us: He wasn't very good last season and he doesn't want to be here. We'll also get compensation.

Everybody wins. And I would question your statement about "quality". While he's not bad I think his agent has filled his head with "you're a star" statements. He certainly kept his quality well hidden last season.

Derby have a fair amount if added revenue from the play-off final which is why they're able to spend 1.5/2 million on George Thorne and give Craig Bryson and will Hughes new long term 15,000 a week contracts. 500000/600000 won't be a lot to them.

This might give some idea of how the compensation scheme works

http://fullcontactlaw.co.uk/2014/05/compensation-players-24-mystery/

the Football League rules are here - but I would guess they are open to the usual FL discretion rule

OK I only saw two away games last year and one TV match.

Cyrus is without doubt one of the best players Coventry had. cant understand why people knock him

tip Cyrus - get fit and you will do very well

Shame you had to leave BUT I dont blame you . Must be rubbish playing for home city club and not playing in home City and in level 3 as well. All down to SISU.

Very best to luck Cyrus!
