If he hits form before January what value could we expect to get in January for him?

The thing I think sets Gyok apart is his close ball control he puts players on the back foot as he runs towards them in a way not many of our players can.

Why do people always feel the need to compare with other players? He is no Wilson or Dele, he is his own man and possibly as he will be on the international scene for many years will go on to better things than the two mentioned. As someone said, his development has massively increased in such a short period of time and from the look of the goal yesterday he is not a one season wonder. However, for that to happen he needs to play under a boss like Wilder as he would build the team around him. If he is still at Boro in January and they are chasing the play offs he will surely put in a bid for him. The only thing is, if he truly believes he is the best player in the Championship he has to pay the value to match those comments.

I wouldnt be rushing to get to to Boro they looked very average and when Wolves get bored with the club Giles is at again he will be moved on.

He’s certainly in the conversation! Off the top of my head, I imagine that Sarr, Chair and Brereton Diaz would have something to say about it!

Nice of Wilder to put more value on our Vik.

If anything, probably less given he’s about to be sacked!

Didn’t you say he was the one player we should have sold?

A lot thought we should never have signed him

Some thought we should have kept biamou rather than sign him

Unless a premier league club offer big money - which would then help the situation enormously- we have to hang onto him even up to the final January before his contract expires

If we got an 8-figure fee and could reinvest some of that on several squad improvements, then yes. We would hardly be the first team to do it.

Your presuming MR would see the money. On current experience with the Hyam deal if we got 10 mil for Vic I dont thing MR would see more than a million

Depends who you ask - seems to have worked out ok for Hull and Brentford.

You say the alternative is apparently two years of watching Vik try and stop us getting relegated single-handedly while the rest of the squad goes nowhere - in which case, I suppose, yippee?

It bothers me when you make a normal sensible post and I can't find any wind up material in there at all. You're either a schizophrenic, or maybe that's the other you?!

Brentford? Brentford had an interest free loan from the owner of £100m and a wage bill of £44 m on promotion so I’m not sure where that’s going

Hull? They have spent and now have sacked the manager and have lost 5 in a row

Every time we sold a top scorer in January it’s not exactly gone well has it?

Nowhere have I suggested selling him in January - you’d get less money for him and he’d be much harder to replace.

Are Hull in a better place than they were before they sold Bowen? Recent form notwithstanding I’d say they made the correct call. I’m sure they didn’t want to move on their best player - no-one does. But what makes us so special?

Be interesting to know what crowds our budgets were based on for this season. 19k average? (given increased ST sales) I'm hoping we can get to 20 points from first 18 games (14 from the next 10) Anything above that would be a bonus, as there are some tricky ones in there imo. Unlikely to have moved us far up the league, but there should be others who will have sunk. Blackpool/Hull/Huddersfield hopefully.

Is it worth trying to give him another improved contract...(he deserves it) would he sign one though?

If we carefuly discuss a new contract with him (with transfer fee triggers) so it works for all parties.

We should be all over this...even though we cant really afford x more wages for him.

Think Giving him a new contract in January or the Summer isnt going to tempt him. Gotta give him get out clauses and pay him now even if its an improvement in big goal bonuses.

Noticed Saturday he moved more central second half and put the shits up his marker many times (could see it in his face) .Playing more certral gives him the chance to go either side of the marker it would bring other players into play.Love tenaicity.Love strikers who are greedy but if I I have 1 complaint it is too greedy at least twice Saturday where a pass would probably lead to a goal. There again so many pluses I can put up with the odd negative.Wait till COH is back then we will see even more from him.

He gave his assistant Percovich a big hug near the end of the game on Saturday as he knew it was over. Percovich is behind all Boro’s shithousery . Exactly the same last year from him.

At least we got to play them before the change, unlike Huddersfield and probably West Brom by the time we play them

A club in our financial position can't afford to risk losing him for nothing. In that window he would be able to sign a pre contract abroad, or simply run down the last few months of his contract. Even if we received an offer in that window (which would reflect his contract length), you can't force a player to move, and more often than not, the player would rather run down his contract at that stage and get a bigger signing on fee.

If he didn’t go for the Stoke job I don’t really see why he’d go for that one.

Don't think they made an approach did they? They seemed pretty set on Neil from the outset (though were apparently admirers of Robins as a potential 2nd or 3rd choice)

I think he'd take the Boro job if offered

Also I doubt compensation would be much of an issue for Gibson

He didn’t take the Sunderland job even when we gave him the green light. As G says I doubt Gibson would be bothered by compensation but I don’t see MR going for this post

I can understand him not taking the Sunderland job at that time, We were on the way up.

With the shit that's gone on this year I could definitely see him being more tempted and Boro would be a good job for him.

I hope I am wrong

I’m less concerned about that than I was when Stoke were looking. We are though I think at the final tests of his patience
