Yep, pleased with this signing too.
Perfect replacement in midfield for Fleck

Why not? Vincelot is capable of making a late run to get on the end of the cross. Same goes with Rose.

Jones will be expected chip in with goals from an attacking role this season, and we haven't seen enough of gadzhev and McCann to know they won't score any goals.

I think Rose might surprise us this season. He gets in good positions when supporting the attack, so he might bag a few for us.

hopefully, he was the only one who made runs last season.

Can anybody remember fleck having a one on one with the keeper? Like the one rose scored with his first touch

I wasn't convinced on him at first but he's the sort of player every other side has 2/3 of in this division, tall, athletic, puts himself around and pops up and usually scores against us.

Solid player for this level.

11 Andy Rose's in this division would probably battle you into the top 6 (if that makes sense)

The only one on one I remember Fleck having with a keeper was his own when him & RCC made a complete balls up from that goal kick that Doncaster scored from at our place in the draw!

Because mowbray is too cautious. He will keep 2 central midfielders deep, so I can't see Vincelot scoring any more than the 4 he scored last year. Out of all our midfielder, only rose appears to be willing to make runs beyond the striker. I don't know enough about McCann but looking at his scoring record he seems to be another 4-5 a season man. I expect Vlad to play deep so hes not likely to get into scoring positions very often, Jones and Lamieres could grao a few.

In Armstrong and Murphy we lost 30 goals a lot of which they made for themselves., sordell I think will get a few but my worry (yes still pre-season and still signings to be had), mowbrays going for a system that really only has 1 striker and all the midfielders like to operate in the hole. Playing with wingbacks crossing to 1 man in the box.

If we're going to be playing wingbacks and pinging crosses in, we'd be better off playing tudguy with sordell and going 2 up top.

Is the Leon Clarke thing dead now? According to Keiran Crowley it was pretty much a goer.

Wouldn't imagine so I get the impression City would like it to happen, just fees & wages will be the stumbling block.

Any move for Clarke I think will be right at the end of the window when Bury may be forced to pay him off to get him off the wage bill.

I'm so excited we have a loan player for half a season who is heading off to the MLS that worked so well for us last season. I don't doubt his qualities but the revolving door of short-term loans hasn't served us well in the past

If he can do the business until January then that has to be a good thing hasn't it?

We could have got a player for a full season who wasn't as good as McCann.

Would rather have the former.

Would you rather we signed Conor Thomas on a 3 year deal or McCann till January?

I don't think CT on a 3 year deal is a fair comparison. It just worries me where his heart will be when he knows that this is just a stopover before he heads ot to the states. The Chris Dagnalls etc.. although short-term loans were putting themselves in the shop window trying to impress. Hope I'm wrong

He's not a left sided player though. Left footed yes, but plays in the middle.

Does he play same side as Lameiras ? Maybe Mowbray is hoping he'll have kicked on and be a bit more ready for first team by Jan

Whoops I plum forgot Lameiras! Probably need a pacy winger to complete the set. So Rose, Lameiras, McCann, Vlad, Vincelot, Jones, Winger seems to me to be enough bodies for midfield, at least till Xmas. Another striker & 2 defenders needed.

Did you see Chuba play for us at Brentford away - clearly no heart or commitment - Arsenal youth was where his heart was - an extreme example but this is an unorthodox arrangement most loans are trying to put themselves out there to be recognised by their parent club or another club, he doesn't have to do either.

I play Sunday league, I have no chance of being scouted and I don't really have a reason to impress anyone. I still try my heart out because I will be letting my team down if I didn't, never mind 15,000 paying supporters. The idea that McCann wont try because he has his future already sorted is laughable.

75% of our signings so far have been permanent deals. You're moaning for nothing again. Or do you think we should give up using the loan system at all? After all it didn't help at all last season.

I don't think you can guarantee attitude either way, some players on permanent contracts may coast with their feet under the table, some players may give everything they have for a team they know they're not playing with for long. It mostly comes down to the person more than the circumstance in the end.

Squad isn't finished yet, McCann signing and other future signings can free up vlad to play higher up

think vlad was wasted cm

fact is that position NEEDS alot of sideways passing, yes some players get bogged down in it and do it all the time but it is neccesary for midfield centres. it can be constraining is what i am trying to say

i think vlad could be utilised better behind strikers as he looks pretty good from what LITTLE i have seen of him.

I think this is one of the most prestigious signings we've had since being relegated in my opinion. Shame it's for only 6 months but I'd take that over signing a below-average midfielder on a permanent basis any day. Established Championship player who can dictate play and grab the odd goal. John Fleck who?

Use the loan market by all means but the last unorthodox loan signing was Madders - and he was awful compared to the period before his sale and lease back and moving to Norwich surely had an impact, that's where his future lay. McCann come November may be thinking of the long season he has ahead in the MLS and may be concentrating on that, hope he works out for us.

He played the same as before we sold him, it's just people took their love of #jm10 and the hype train away.

Let's see if mccann signs and how he plays in a city shirt?

Just cause we might play with wing backs doesn't mean we are going to ping crosses in.

Last season we finished with I think Ricketts and rose playing wing backs in the last 4 or 5 matches and I don't remember either of them consistently pinging crosses into Armstrong in those final few games.

If Vincelot, Rose, McCann and gadzhev can all grab 4 or 5 each. Jones and Lameiras 12 between them plus any more midfielders who join then that's a decent return from midfield.

I seem to remember you said something very similar last season about how we were going to struggle to score goals, can't remember exactly what you said but something like you thought Armstrong, Tudgay, Lameiras, Maddison, Fleck, Vincelot wouldn't even score 20 goals between them.

Yes, Maddison was awful but he was hardly a loan in the conventional sense.
