Chris Kirkland has left Bury without playing a game, stating he needs time away from football, don't know what that's all about?

He is preparing for his future and probably a career change. Lots of people have been there footballers or not footballers.

If he wants time away from football, he should come back to City.

Hopefully it is nothing serious and just maybe a career change rather than health!

Fair play to him! If he goes to risking his life for 30k a year rather then a week then he is a good bloke!

That article was 2008 though...not saying it's not that but the bbc article makes it out to be something to do with his family?

Sounds like someone close to him is ill. I wish Chris & his family all the best.

Doesn't sound too good from that BBC article. Hope everything works out for him.

Best of luck whatever it is CK. Still remember him being one of the few players being openly upset at Villa Park on that awful day. Will always be one of my favourite ex players even though he wasn't in the first team that long before moving on. Top bloke.

I hope he dons his goalie gloves again in the future. It's a shame injuries prevented him becoming the player he looked like he might become, but it would be good if he could have at least one more hurrah before he retires from the game.
