Horrendous news. As you said Nick it doesn’t discriminate. 48 years old. With his wife also having a horrible illness too. Cruel world.

Wondered where you had gone. Let’s not delete the thread until his prognosis has been raised in the House of Commons and generated page after page of coverage for three consecutive days.

Sad news. He seems such a sound guy.

Let's hope the drugs he's taking will give him as much of a life as possible, for as long as possible.

One single article on the BBC News page.

Liam Payne must have had 8 or 9.

It just needs a degree of balance.

Cheryl says media coverage about Liam Payne’s death ‘abhorrent’

Former partner of One Direction star spoke out as Payne’s father travelled to Buenos Aires to repatriate his body
www.theguardian.com

i don’t suppose you would want your son to know that their dad was a drug infused scumbag who didn’t even pay for the prostitutes engaged for an afternoon threesome whilst the girlfriend he supposedly loved had popped home.

Your dislike for him is very strange. Especially as yesterday you had apparently never heard of him. Now you’ve read his diary

I didn’t dislike him, I dislike the OTT coverage in the media,. As does the mother of his son who actually knew him, unlike you and I.

Exactly. Balance

Liam Payne's death didn't warrant that incredibly over top level of coverage.

There were articles about talking to his music teacher etc.

It was way, way over the top in my opinion.

My missus and her girls said exactly the same thing. Needs covering obviously, but not to that degree.

The reason there is so much coverage is dictated by what the viewers want. Those articles will have received way more views than anything else as Liam was a worldwide superstar.

In the pub last night, everyone was devastated and everyone I interacted with brought it up. People are mourning

Yeo mean everyone outside the pub with pop and crisps, surely. If not, tell me which pub so I can avoid it.

Not a drinker.

It's all a bit odd with her and him, if it was the other way around the fella would be accused of grooming.

Who the fuck is Liam Payne, anyway ?

Chris Hoy is a national hero.

There is absolutely no way the coverage of Liam's Payne's death warrants so much coverage.

Chris Hoy inspires sports athletes worldwide .
Liam Payne inspired teenage girls to stick his poster on their bedroom wall.

I had heard of him, but didn't know which boy band he was in, be it, Westlife, Boyzone, One Direction or The Monkees.

Good god you guys are unreal. Even a thread regarding sad news about a GB legend turns into the usual bickering and point scoring.

Im not sure if the decline in City's fortune is related, but this place is getting more toxic by the day. Embarrassing.

Unfortunately Paynos / Tear Drops aka Boosh jumped in and made some comments regarding Liam Payne - and you can't see that because he has been shown (numerous) red cards.

Yup, it was Boosh who hijacked it, Rob.

Trying to point score, Chris Hoy against Liam Payne.

Against the Beatles, which were viewed under a different prism and era, of course they're a different class but this is a totally different scenario in terms of recognition?

Payne actually died?

Hoy hasn't.

Not hard to see why the sudden death of a 31 yo is getting more coverage than a terminal diagnosis of a 48 yo.

More coverage may be reasonable, not the amount of coverage over every day since Payne died. And being mentioned in the house of commons in the same breath as Alec Salmond and the murdered Sir David Amess. Laughable.
