And it failed, the numbers who went were far less than they anticipated, so reluctantly they came back.

If they took us to Northampton again, the numbers would be even lower, especially if we are playing our football in D4

They came back because they wanted to try and handicap the Wasps deal..

You think they care? No doubt in my mind they would rather leave the Ricoh again than drop the legal battle

The care about money, it was unsustainable in Northampton.

Money is the only thing that speaks to them, basically they've been cornered.

I heard this the other day.
Will have to wait and see if it is
Didn't want to post it on here due to the usual abuse when you start a rumour post.

I'd say with that job advert it's very believable.

Even at the Ricoh they are still losing millions a year, makes no difference to them.

I like the way that everyone assumes that Northampton would let us back. Cardoza isn't there anymore and I think after the trouble they had last season the fans and supporters trust tasted some of the type of medicine we've been spoon fed and will probably be more sympathetic to us next time and instead of saying thanks for the rent it's not our problem, they'll get behind our trust and fight it. I would hope so anyway after the support we gave them. I don't think Northampton will be an option again.

I'm sure it was either rumoured or said that we retained an option/clause to be able to return

FWIW I agree Northampton won't be an option. Not for those reasons however. The narrative now is a lot easier to spin that we have little option, and some club would help us out. Remember we even had a chat with Hinckley Fucking United before.

I don't even think moving away will be an option either however... but that'll only be if there's no play to be had by doing so.

The greater concern would be what the next play will be...

I'm sure Wasps would end up giving them the same deal as they currently have on a year by year basis.
What Wasps won't do is negotiate a 20-25 year deal, with greater access to match day revenues while there is 'background legal noise' .

So where will we move then? IIRC last time club's were lining themselves up to distance themselves from us not to welcome us with open arms. My recollection was it was Northampton or the Ricoh.

Good luck ringing up Cardoza to ask if we can take that option. I'd imagine that option should one have existed disappeared around the same time Cardoza did.

Well they've got a year to figure it out and as long as that 35 mile restriction is lifted im sure options are available.

i think it's all a rouse to try and rid sisu. Everything has been organized to squeeze them out and exactly what we are left with. In 18 months one we are homeless so what do sisu do?

In my opinion no ground will take them close by and then what are you left with? What if there is no other option? It's bloomin scary

I'm not and say options were there around 50-60 miles away so what? Who would go? How would the club survive? It can't. Simple as that

Only Walsall actively distanced themselves.

There are also options such as here:

I'd prefer to hope we don't get to test it, rather than confidently assuming it won't happen again...

This is the biggest concern. Northampton 'worked' because it was a means to an end. Gates were, ultimately, pretty irrelevant.

Without an incentive however, what's to be gained from a move?

Show me evidence that says the 20 - 25 year deal was what was being negotiated.

The club wanted a 2+2 extension as I understand and that's the reason talks fell down.

The impasse was huge

After ending negotiations, Wasps cited the “distraction” of legal action by the CCFC owners Sisu over the Ricoh Arena as the rugby and football club looked to agree a 20-year deal which would give the Sky Blues increased access to crucial matchday and non-matchday income.

When they moved back they signed a two year deal with a two year extension WERE IN BLOODY THE TWO YEAR EXTENSION

It is a while ago but my memory is every midland club either blanked them or made their position clear but Walsall had to go the extra mile and make an official statement as rumours were rife that a deal was imminent.

Out of interest what ground is that in the picture?

Oh dear you seem a tad confused old boy. That's a CET article and it's generally relating to a quote from some chap from wasps.

We can go one by one through the many wasps "interpretation" of events and future happenings if you want - shall we?

Or better still why don't you e mail the fellow and ask him the proposed 20 year deal and the outlines of the deal. In particular ask him what the rent would be in say year 3 of said arrangement?

Can you then post that on here?
