Taiwan chip manufacturer is securing it's future by building facilities in the US and Europe.
  • President Donald Trump announced $100 billion investment from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing.
  • The money will go toward building new chip manufacturing plants and brings the company’s total investment in the U.S. to $165 billion.
  • Trump has repeatedly called out and accused Taiwan of stealing the U.S. chip manufacturing business and touted tariffs on semiconductor imports.
  • C.C. Wei, CEO of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, stands on the future site of a planned chip factory under the name European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, in Dresden, Germany, Aug. 19, 2024.

China has been acting aggressively in the region for over 20 years now, and their behaviour is a regular feature on the news of neighbouring countries.

Xi is similar to Putin in his desire to establish his country as a global power, which has been done to a degree.

Militarily, it seems they are not quite there yet, although they could make a terrible nuisance of themselves - especially if you are Taiwanese.
