I'm in line with the goal line and I thought it was a pen. I could see the defenders arm over Biamou's shoulder but it was on the blind side of the ref, good defending if you get away with it. If the ref was sitting in my seat i think he would have given it.

Yep it was the blind side.

Slowed down and paused you can see he has his shoulder andarm here.

This is what really winds me up with refereeing now, not just at our level but across the board, so much inconsistency.

A foul is a foul whether its in the box or not, but you're right, guaranteed free kick if thats in the centre circle.

The other one is defenders v attackers at challenging headers. How defenders (and GKs for that matter) get so many free kicks is ridiculous, especially from corners etc!

There was one on Saturday when Biamou was infront of the defender from a goal kick, couldnt get off the ground because he had a defender on his shoulders, defender missed header, falls over, wins free kick!!!!

There was another with Vincenti, their defender had both arms on his shoulders to stop his jump. Right next to the lino.

I think most refs should sit in my seat, we would get 5 pens a game from there.

What is Willis doing again for that goal... Schoolboy communication between Stokes and McDonald to start with and they shoulder primary responsibility for conceding but watch Willis and Eisa. Willis uses his pace to get back superbly and then does what he's done so often this season, gets drawn towards the ball instead of marking his man. Eisa is the only man in the box, mark him tight there and he stops the goal irrespective of the terrible initial defending by Stokes and McDonald. Always seems to be an issue when he's running back towards his own goal.

Yep, I commented about this on the ratings thread after someone described Willis as brilliant on Saturday. Bad error there.

Both McDonald and Willis at fault. Very poor. In the right position then ball watches.

Looking at that you have to wonder why the lino didn't flag for it.

that looks a penalty to me, if he had taken his arm off him he would stayed upright with scoring chance but was taken down in the box just

Has to be doesn't it? When Biamou doesn't go down with the first jump on the back the defender appears to drag him to the floor by the arm.

Ha!! I would say the opposite. I was convinced that wasn't a penalty at the time and that just convinces me more.

For me, Biamou leans into him and then falls over.

I think the Bayliss one looked more like a pen.

The Biamou one needs to be seen from the main stand perspective. That might prove more conclusive.

Well I thought that, but he just signed a contract extension until 2020 back in August.

The thing is you say he leans into him, that's as the guy has his arm in his hand and his other arm on his neck. While it is outside the box the defender also does a big leap with his weight on Biamou's neck (by the look of it).

When was the Bayliss one? Can try and find it.

Think it was before. Not certain.

I do see the arm on Biamou and that should possibly be a free kick, as it's outside the penalty area, but as soon as they go in the defender seemingly pulls his arm away.

I honestly think Biamou COULD have stayed on his feet there.

It looks as if the defender pulls his arm away as they are falling. He still has hold of it in the box but it starts outside.

Either way, compare it to this that's a foul...

That second one's definitely not a penalty.

Fair challenge that and accidental elbow.

There was no contact on their player, but he got a foul.

The guy clearly has Biamou's arm, also the other arm on his neck, jumps and pulls Biamou's arm.

If it was on Jodi Jones for example, how many would have a different opinion?

If it was in the centre circle it would have been given, no need for a red card then.

I was convinced Biamou went down far too easily looking for a pen and still believe that.

Have to confess nearly everyone around me called for a penalty though. Mind, in saying that, if the ball hits a kneecap or backside they always shout handball too.

Otis, are you mad?! I think where Biamou makes a mistake is looking for where the defender is when he's coming in to the box, this gives the Cheltenham guy a chance to get back and put him off, he should just take the touch and hit it. Once the defender catches up with him there are a few fouls though, he has his right arm wrapped around Biamou's armpit and then his left on the neck.

Taking that frame by frame I can see 4 fouls

1. where he pulls him back outside the box

2. where he is off the ground pushing his weight down on Biamou with no control

3. Here you can see his elbow on the neck and he has hold of Biamou's wrist

4. He uses his shoulder in Biamou's back

It's only after the ball has gone that he lefts go of Biamou and then it looks like he falls into him. 4 clear fouls and an absolute stonewall penalty. The official on the far side should have picked up on him being held and flagged but they are all scared to make any decisions in this league and defer to the ref. I think it's a miracle Max managed to stay up as long as he did tbh

1. Agree.

2. Yep, could still be given as a foul

3. That's where I see Biamou leaning into his man.

4. Ditto.

I still say no pen, but even if I WAS swayed I certainly wouldn't be saying stonewall.

Yep, you can see him multiple times. Obviously clever as it's subtle but there is 100% contact, as compared with McNultys where he doesn't touch him.

That one where he jumps with his weight on Biamou's back as well was pretty clear.

3. Biamou is leaning into him as the guy has his arm though and pulls it...

If that happened to Aguero on Sky Sports they would be shitting bricks.

I'm honestly not being funny. I just don't see a penalty there at all. Definitely a case for a foul outside the box, but then for me after that it's a tussle between two players and I think Biamou is leaning into him looking for a penalty.

As I say, we need the other angle. That would be more definitive.

For me he definitely COULD have stayed on his feet and would have been all but certain to score (even though it IS Biamou)

But the guy has hold of his wrist, in the penalty area...He lets go of his wrist then they both nearly hit the ground.

He could well have stayed on his feet and shoulder barged him, it doesn't alter the fact there was lots of contact.

From both sides. I think the ref just saw it as a tussle. Both of them fighting for the ball.

On 3 can you not see around the defenders short to the right he has hold of Biamou's wrist?

Because Biamou is leaning into him.
You're not going to convince me. Not just on that grassy knoll evidence. I need the book depository building view.

Have we got a Lee Harvey Oswald in the main stand?

Yep. My feeling too and I think the ref thought 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other.
