Even if his appeal is thrown out there will still be some who contest the verdict and blame the victim.

At the moment, until proven otherwise, he is a sex offender who has never once shown any remorse for his victim.

If you genuinely believe you didn't do it, why would you show remorse? Genuine question. If he thinks he didn't do anything wrong and she is lying why would he be remorseful?

Edit: And to save going back and forth for hours I'm not saying I believe he is innocent as at the moment he clearly isn't. But we'll see after the appeal. I wouldn't have him here though. Not worth it and we don't need him.

I think this goes into the wider moral questions, in that he's shagged behind his girlfriend's back, and has also shagged a paralytic girl before trying to blacken her character and stop her from moving on. If ultimately he was found not guilty of rape, he's treading a fine line anyway, and it's not the way your Mum'd teach you to grow up and treat women.

So you could maybe feel yourself innocent, but maybe slightly reflective over how to behave around women. He must, surely, be aware that even if taking it from his perspective, he's put himself in a slightly dodgy position really.

But, unfortunately, not being a nice bloke wouldn't be enough to stop him joining us, as I fear we'd have to get rid of half our squad if that were the criteria!

He's got every right to pursue whatever legal avenues he can if he feels himself innocent. Personally I'd rather not hear about it until (yet another) verdict is reached however - there's no need for the public innuendos in all that.

Just the same as if he wants to save a well paid career and his name what else can he do?

False claim of rape that resulted in someone being jailed for it?

It is feasible that he could be found innocent and it not being a false claim of rape. If she believes that is what happened, and it has not been done maliciously then why criminalise her? That would prevent future victims coming forward, as if there isn't the weight of evidence to find someone guilty beyond reasonable doubt, the victim gets criminalised for it?

And now we are getting into the realms of speculation of course.

We are all second guessing at the moment. I agree with you Stu and am merely saying there is a possible scenario of her getting charged for some offence as a result.

Not saying that is the way it is, or the way it will be, or that I believe it myself. Depends what this evidence is.

She woke up in a hotel room with no memory of how she got there, she contacted the police as she thought her drink may have been spiked, she didn't even accuse anyone of rape as she couldn't even remember what happened. When Evans was tracked down he was charged with rape after admitting to intercourse. Theres nothing to suggest she answered all questions anything but honestly and truthfully, and the prosecutors decided there was enough evidence to pursue a case. Surely the fact that it has been so controversial and much debate shows there was at least merit to the case and it deserved to be heard. Evans isn't arguing that the girl is a liar who fabricated this, he's arguing that what he done isn't rape.

Unless new evidence proves she has lied in her testimony, which I don't see how it could, then I don't see what she has done wrong.

Just came across this. Ched Evans is apparently 100% not guilty according to this video.

Watching the video I am guessing the conclusion he is not guilty is down to him being a good footballer.

Can't believe people have actually liked this video.

If he is acquitted can he expect to get an apology from Jessica Ennis?

I think that was just people giving her abuse on twitter.

The thing is lied about what though? She's constantly maintained she couldn't remember anything after leaving the takeaway, Evans was convicted largely on his own evidence as the girl couldn't give any evidence as to what happened on the night after leaving the takeaway, the next thing she claims to remembers is waking up in the hotel room.

The only thing she could be lying about is not remembering and she is just saying it to save embarrassment, how can you prove that? She was visibly drunk and people handle alcohol differently so its entirely plausible she couldn't remember, the only way I can think of it being proven she is lying is if she tripped herself up and slipped up whilst being questioned. And if she was lying about her memory and doing this to save embarrassment, it doesn't add up then as to why she would report to the police that she thought her drink may have been spiked.

As far as I'm concerned she has done nothing wrong and it would take some major concrete evidence to convince me otherwise.

The official website on behalf of Evans. Tries to make the two players sound as guilty as each other. But she was with one player that night and willingly went to the hotel with one of them. The other joined later. One was found not guilty. the other found guilty. Guess which is which.

Whenever there is a rape case there always seems to be a sense that the women is bring dishonest. Remind me, exactly how many men are convicted of rape?

I wouldn't pay any attention to Evans's site. His girlfriend or wife or whatever she is, is shameful. I wonder if she would stick by him so much if he wasn't so rich? If his appeal is unsuccessful she will spend her life with a convicted rapist.

A little odd to say the least.

Hardly a lynch mob. Some of us actually believe that criminals should be held accountable. Would you show such leniency towards a convicted murderer or a pedophile?

If he wanted a bed for the night he could afford a taxi or his own hotel room. His parents live nearby. So why did he go there?

No eggshells from me. Just basic understanding of what happened. He shouldn't have been there. He has paid the price. I wouldn't join a mate and shag an unconscious bird. If I did I would deserve everything I got.

That's the thing, it's an extremely dodgy by all accounts, and very few cases get an appeal like this. I wouldn't say it's a definite either way. And propaganda or not the site I posted above is interesting and that video hasn't been fabricated.*

*for the hard of understanding, I don't condone rape, just so you know, cheers all the best.

No, Astute, you haven't quite grasped what I am saying.

I'm just saying people (myself included) have posted stuff on here and have had to then tread on eggshells for fear of being misunderstood.

Example: I have posted this afternoon that he has won the right of appeal. That doesn't mean I believe he is innocent. People have posted stuff to illustrate the complexities of the case (and it has been complex, with lots of debate of the rights and wrongs and what actually constitutes rape).

Just because someone say posts a statement of a Evans supporter, that doesn't mean the poster has taken the Evans' side.

Like Hill, all he said was that the link he posted was interesting. He didn't say he believed the detail of what was in the link.

It isn't worth the hassle. We obviously disagree and to me describing those who dont offer leniency to Evans as a "mob" is somewhat strange.

Do you know any women who have been raped?
