Our old bogey team - Forest Green !
Even more of a local derby now with Walsall
Man Utd/Liverpool U23s would be funny just to see how many day trippers turn up!

I met a young lady from Manchester in a nightclub many moons ago in Birmingham and she was a friendly sort.
Over or maybe down for the night would be more appropriate lol!
She thought Coventry was near London bless her.
I digress I’m sorry.......

Irrelevant now re: us, but I'd be surprised if the 'local' Man U followers don't turn out in numbers at whichever away ground they play - we will see.

Coventry v Forest Green in the Checkatrade Trophy on a Tuesday night-surely a new record low of less than 4 figures?

Attendance for these games could be ridiculously low. Shame they can't play them in Nuneaton or Leamington, might get a couple of thousand then.

Why thought it would be a very attractive game.
Could eat grass for the day and have a clash of the Vegans tie.

The club should include any home checkatrade games up to the final as part of the season ticket. Might get a few locals going to these if it's only a fiver or tenner a ticket.

My cousin moved from Coventry to Barnsley when he was a kid and his nickname at school was cockney.

When I went to Uni in Sheffield and worked part time, most people there didn't know where Coventry was. When I asked them to guess from my accent they also thought it was near London!

When I said it was about 15 miles from Birmingham the penny dropped as certain words do ring a midlands twang. Strange dialect...

As a child, most holidays were on the Isle of Wight, and the locals all thought we were Brummies. which I used to find bizarre!

Move away, move back and you’ll likely find that family members do indeed sound like brummies

They do now - my wife is the daughter of a Brummie. Luckily she moved young enough to only have the slightest twang!

There should be a rule where former winners are banned from future competitions.

It will be a bit sad if we get to the final with our 4-5k St. Andrews fan base...

If we get to the final, there will be more than 4-5k Sky Blues fans/supporters/followers at Wembley.

I've always felt that clubs qualifying for Europe should have to drop out of one of the cups or forego their European spot. They're always complaining about the number of games (even though during a break they travel halfway across the world for a friendly) so let's help them out a bit and give someone else a chance for some silverware.

Anyone know when we're likely to hear which games will be 'home' (I feel like you have to do this every time otherwise someone will be like 'THEY'RE ALL AWAY!') and which will be away? Southampton u21s will obviously be at St Andrews, but wouldn't mind another trip to the New Lawn.

One of the worst days I’ve had recently. Terrible ground/terrace-terrible performance and we all got lashed on as it didn’t stop all day.

Noticed that in Scotland they're playing League Cup matches already, and in a similar format to Checkatrade Trophy from what I can tell - group games then knockout.
Anyway got me thinking, instead of pointless pre-season friendlies, should EFL use the pre-season to play the group matches for the EFL Trophy, which would then give the teams a more meaningful way to get minutes into the players legs and also reducing the number of games during the actual season? Bit like the UEFA Nations League as well, making friendlies more meaningful with something to play for. What does anyone think?

It's not a bad idea, but because they are competitive games the teams will be worried they'd be overloading the players too early with the intensity and potentially causing injuries. So to avoid that they've then got to start pre-season even earlier and the players barely get a break. Unless they play them like pre-season friendlies in which case you're effectively saying this competition is totally worthless and you may as well get rid of it altogether.

Think Jodi Jones is the only one left and he came on as a late sub..... assuming Beavon isn't still on our books.
