Odds on him ever making a first team appearance?

Haha nice welcome to the kid! Well we're a very good team these days so probably quite low but...
A. I'd like to think we're putting a bit more thought into these pickups these days.
B. Training here will increase his chances of going pro even if elsewhere lower down.

Not much difference in odds from when McCallum signed.

I think the three signings we have made into the academy show a change in direction for recruitment. Players who are sometimes a little further along in their development and where the path to the first team is shorter, though obviously still by no means guaranteed.

Recruiting players who have some experience of senior football also shortens the path to the U23s which is useful with a small squad like ours. Sure, most signings still aren’t going to make it, but that’s only one form of success in building an academy.

The merits of this signing aside - and no one knows enough about him to be able to make a well informed prediction on his chances yet - I think it’s a positive move and indicates that we are thinking strategically and over a longer time horizon than we’ve been able to for a very long time.

I heard Chatham have 3,000 fans in the local pub ala Leeds. Expecting big trouble.

Interesting point, did Hyam and McCallum benefit from us been lower down the league structure, if we were in the position we are now, would they of ever got an opportunity to perform? They are both capable at Championship level, but makes you realise the players that are released or don't make it may well be capable but just never got the opportunity.

It's a kids team without the more capable kids, everyone else is in Spain.

Not an excuse.

This is how sleepwalking into relegation starts.

Totally agree, if we can't get 138 points in the league with our U18 B team, why bother!?

A few trialists as usual. Youssef Yahyaoui was with QPR U18s. Played both halves, so maybe more attention on him?

Played well first half - really nice strike from Kai Yearn. Younger lads got bullied a bit second half but literally men vs boys.

That’s another game Kai Yearn played well. I read someone he has everything to potentially play at the top.
