Brau made some good tackles against Ipswich but then mostly gave the back straight back. Needs more work IMO

Who didn't give the ball straight back to Ipswich it was the worst passing display of the season.

Spot on. Loads on here complaining about Brau giving the ball away. MVE, Rudoni did it constantly. Even Grimes.

And all of those players have been criticised for their performance on Monday, and in Rudonis case since his return from injury.

But we also know what they can and do do.
We don't know that with brau and I would suggest and such a crucial phase of the season now isn't the time to throw him in at the deep end to try and find out.

I just assumed he played so that Bidwell would play today and Dasilva on Sunday.

Yep, but today is certainly more of a ‘Bidwell’ game and we probably didn’t fancy him to play two games 3 days apart.

Im a bit worried today, that we repeat a lethargic performance. Lampard got a tough challenge on his hands. Thomas coming back might give us the boost/lift we need. PUSB.

Thats why there will be a few changes today. The players should be hurting from that performance the other day and want to put it right. Charlton are on a terrible run and will want to do similar so we can’t be laid back.

Not saying it won't happen but our record after losing under lampard is pretty impressive in the following games

I think it might only be lethargic due to us being tired.

Not quite sure what to expect today. A comfortable win, or a slug it out, backs to the wall, scraped 3 points

Whatever happens, we're going to be tireder still, come the Brum game.

I honestly don't think we will win both, so a draw and a win out of the two fixtures, would be a good return , I feel

Well it’s how we react today. If we are serious regarding the top 2 positions we SHOULD be going to Charlton and coming away with the 3 points. Be interesting to see if it’s Sims or Wright up front.

Birmingham are playing Watford away -the form team in the league. Another winless game and I suspect the managers getting a New Year P45

Same for both teams, people on here seem to think it's just us playing all these fixtures. Charlton and Birmingham both with small squads will be in exactly the same predicament

They pressed us into making mistakes why didn't we do the same i'e the goalkeeper thing mentioned by Lampard if you press the keeper and there defence that puts them under pressure and leads to mistakes.Even if it's just Wright who puts pressure on the keeper and he does manage to play it to a defender they still have a long way to get to our goal.We got overrun in midfield from the whistle as Torp is very slow and Rudoni was everywhere but helping the midfield so ultimately Lampard should of changed it to counter them being able to run at will against our defence. You have to not allow midfielders to turn and face our goal gives you a whole load of problems.

A draw as our problems in midfield persist against a team desperate for points....

It’s essentially because if you press the keeper then you’re committing one extra man further forward, and if they successfully pass through him, then they have a man over on us in the attacking phase.

In short, press the keeper against a team who pass well / comfortably at the back, they have an extra person to play the ball to in front of them.

Is that defender in prep for it after, or they going to back him?
He's definitely walking the line almost guaranteed to come before they play us.Hope we're capable of just playing the state their in either with this manager or the next one.

Yes, I get that. I just think that if we are tired it evens the playing field up a little.

Sometimes when you're tired, the quality levels can drop. MVE is a good case in point. Be it tiredness, or recovery.

To start? Don’t Charlton have that pacey left sided player who did well against us first half at home?

Yeah. Local derby though and games in quick succession. You can get some odd results around the festive period.

I think when this tiredness creeps in we need to use wider squad more.

Would it be to much having a front three of Wright,Simms and EMC. I know they don't track back always but if you had Eccles in place of Rudoni, then Eccles will get back. With Allen in for Torp. Lots of energy then in midfield

Ipsw were not pressuring our keeper into making mistakes. They were pressing our midfield.

Could well prove to be, in my opinion

1. Local derby.
2. You always get some surprise results at this time of year.
3..Anyone is capable of beating anyone in this league
4. We haven't been playing so well lately

Not saying it WILL be tough, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was
