Would be a superb signing, very good on the ball, defensively solid and quick enough to suit our high line. Can't see us getting him for that price

Or they don't mind having a right footer at LCB as long as he's good.

I hope we’re not wasting all that money on someone whos played 26 games at Championship level, same money could get us Doyle who’s beyond 100 appearances

A deal for Doyle wouldn’t be anything like this. Let’s says it’s £10m, then City add a buy back clause of £20m and a sell on of 25%.. its not worth it in the long run

Compare it to Hughes and it’s a fair safer future investment imo

A bit of everything, great on the ball but still the traditional cb attributes like leadership, aggression etc

Fairly certain he plays on the left side for hull.

Their fans seem to think he’s worth double what we’re offering. Although we have seen first hand how fans can often massively inflate the value of their own players.

Why is this even a thread?

They want £20m, we have the most generic paper link to him and George’s made up rumour record is about 0/30 - move on

As I was saying earlier, I always trust George and I believe this is a credible rumour

More just from the point of view that if we have £8m to spend I’d rather add 2/3 players than one marquee signing.

Tbf we need to get this position right, its an obvious point of improvement in the team and i'd expect a minimum of £5 million spent on it.

Well if he played in the 1-1 draw up there it was a rearguard action?

Yeah can understand that. Always seems a bit more risky spending big on just one player.

He did play in that one, and tbh I thought he was shite but sounds like that was just one game and he’s usually good.

Phillip Billing who just won Serie A with Napoli?

He’s not going to Birmingham, but they might be able to get close to his wage demands. We wouldn’t.

Don’t know anything about Hughes in reality but trust in Lampard / King / team to have done the due diligence if they’re spending that much. Doesn’t indicate anything about Kitching or Thomas for me. Just means we’d have 3 starting CB’s rather than 2 which is critical.

Having heard of him five minutes ago seems a decent pick up if the price is right. Man City and Liverpool academies before Wigan, captain at a young age so should have good leadership which were missing, won Young Player of the Season last year (and goal of the season for a routine header - Austin’s Google scouting strikes again). Wiki says he has ridiculous passing range and he’s been capped at U21 for England. If Doug’s pockets are heavy enough I’d take this lad as an upgrade on Kitching.
