Neither Burge nor RCC are really good enough but we'll have to stick with RCC for now since we have more pressing concerns.

I've seen some funny posts on here, someone claiming Burge is better than RCC is up there as one of the funniest claims I've seen

I think RCC is plenty good enough. Not having a go by any stretch but did you watch the league one highlights. Soooo many embarrassing goalkeeper howlers. This is league one. RCC is definitely good enough for league one, Burge most certainly isn't. Only goalkeeper I've seen who would give swindons keeper a run for his money with worst possible distribution

In fairness, if you look at all 46 games we played last season, he was the worst player on the pitch in more of them than anyone else...

That's not to say on his day he wasn't good though!

Thing is who now is going to chip in with his 10 goals last season?

Lee Burge is up there with Fabian Debec! I'd even pick Scott Shearer ahead of him.

TBF the goal did look saveable and RCC will probably be disappointed with it personally. However as others have said many errors for the goal if you break it down.
RCC is a good young goalie and rightly our no1 .....Burge......not better than RCC imo but not as bad as a lot make out and is good back up. Think we need to accept they will both make a few errors but are decent keepers at league 1 level with RCC potentially up their with the best in the league.

Cook is nearly 10 years from a goalkeepers peak, he's clearly going to make mistakes and we either live with that or bring in someone more experienced. Still think the good he does outweighs the bad and him or Jones will be our next big sale

Completely agree.

I'm pretty nervous where the goals are going to be coming from this season.

Looked like a slight deflection off of Willis too

Even Lee Burge doesn't believe that, Don't think he will ever be good enough for league 1

Based on what? He's not made half the mistakes RCC has.

I think the difference is charles-cook has improved an awful lot since coming into team although he still makes mistakes. Burge is an accident waiting to happen every corner or long shot and everyone including him and the defence shit themselves. Keepers have to be confident Burge isnt

Plus the fact that RCC kept those clean sheets with the same defence Lee Burge had and looked far more composed, mistakes only started happening when the injury to Reda then Ben Turner left the back line all over the place opening him up to errors with Sam Ricketts playing all over the shop.

Probably because he's hardly played, Burge is nowhere near RCC in goal keeping ability

A blind man would save more shots than Burge, terrible keeper.

That's what the so-called goalkeeping experts are saying. Personally don't agree.

I think a few forget how bad Burge was, its a common theme that the more a player gets left out the better he becomes in the eyes of some fans through not playing

I mean there are more occasions than I care to comment, but the one that really sticks in my mind (and makes the OP statement of 'he doesnt cost us as many points' a mockery) was Burge's performance against Burton away last season. YES he didn't cost us any points but that is through absolutely NO personal triumph and a mixture of luck and defenders bailing us out. He was like a fish out of water every single time the ball went into the box. RCC isn't a world beater, but by God he's comfortably the best we have.

Can only go off the highlights as couldn't make it on Saturday, on the radio they made it out as a well worked goal, Id hardly call it that, defending down our right side to allow the ball in was slow, the two players DKE and I think Gadzhev both stood defending the man with the ball, DKE reacted far too late to the overlapping run that anyone could see coming, average ball into the box and popped out to a man who shot through a crowded area.

Id imagine RCC saw it late and managed to get a hand to it, wouldn't call it a pathetic attempt though

If Burge was a better keeper he would be in team. Simple.

That's because half of the time he is rooted to the spot and does not even attempt a save.
