But surely it is wasting more money? I am not saying they shouldn't chase debts but if they can spend 100k chasing 10k for example, why bother?

I expected that reply from your twin. His favorite phrase.

Hate to say it but isn't the answer due dilligence? Clearly their own fault.

Well, it suggests it was never a debt, just the charity thought it should have been a debt.

Ah I remember now, you were in the bottom group with the others who had absolutely no clue what day it was and spent all day trying to lick their nose. Sorry, my mistake!

Did Higgs get this wrong, yes. Is it something to relish in, no.

If I'd won that big euro millions jackpot the other week I'd currently be writing them a big fat cheque to cover the amount of the claim and their cost, on top of the big fat cheque I would have already given them in the first place because of the good work they do.

I dare say I'm not alone in that sentiment. I dare say that the queue of people wanting to do the same for sisu will be a lot shorter.

No, I agree and if sisu were found in the wrong I would have liked them to have to give a donation.

At the time people were saying how it is a waste of charitys money, which is never a good thing.

I hope it doesn't affect the academy though.

So they are a registered charity and would not expect any donations? I thought you were an educated man James? I give approximately £500 a year to charity and not through a charity box.

Desperate.

As I understand it the Higgs Centre was built by the Higgs after the club didn't have the funding to build the Academy facilities themselves. I think (and I don't know this as fact)it was made into a dual purpose centre so there were facilities that were suitable for a Cat 2 one, but also some for the community to use. This would then mean that they weren't just building our club decent Academy facilities, as that would probably have fallen foul of the Charity Commission. The Centre itself is run by the Coventry Sports Foundation http://www.covsf.com and the centre has a few trustees of which PWKH is the chairman of (I got pulled up on that before) and secretary to the trustees which own the properties. I think(hope!) the academy will be fine so long as whoever has the contract to play there actually pays the bills.

That's a no then. Why not I give hundreds a year to various organisations - Redwings, cwf, the dogs trust to name a few. I am passionate about these charities, I've helped at Redwings and my children have at the dogs trust. I raise funds at work. You seem very passionate about the Higgs trust Tony, what have you personally done to help them?

Well then I guess this statement from their last accounts is wrong or misleading

So it sounds like they get their income from the money Alan Higgs left to set the charity up. They might take donations but it certainly doesn't sound like it from that.

Bad luck for Tony then.

Its a bit wierd. If I offered a private company some money I think they can take it and pass to a charity. So are you saying if I left them £1 million in my will they would have no mechanism to take it as a tax free gift? Haven't they got a charity registered number then James?

You think you are the only one who gives to charity whether that be time or money. Myself and my wife volunteer for rugby paw prints. Its a local charity that assist the elderly and people suffering from illnesses to keep their pets when they start to struggle to look after them rather than give them up. I always put all my loose change in air ambulance, help for heroes, red cross and save the children. Am I the sort of arsehole to keep tabs on how much I've made in donations over a year, no. I will point out that you claim to be on a six figure salary, I earn less than £20k a year. So I most likely give a larger percentage of my spare income compared to you given that you give less than a thousand pounds a year.

Have I ever given the higgs, no. Will I, yes.If only to shut you up.

Would I ever relish in any charity loosing money in a court case however ill advised, no.

You on the other hand jumped at the opportunity to.

Just to add. I also put my loose change in the boxes on maccy d counters. This goes to accommodation at hospitals for parents whose children are spending long periods of time in hospital. Most notably Birmingham children's hospital. I found this out after a friends premature twins had to spend months there.

Fair play to you with the pet thing, I much prefer when things are actually done rather than just handing cash over. Never know where it will end up.

Absolutely right. We should've gone bust then.

Imagine if we'd gone pop Leicester style when we went down? No -10 points, none of that, just a clean slate.

That is true Nick. While I'm being forced to blow my own trumpet by an idiot I'll also point out that we have the opportunity to claim expenses from the charity. We never have.

It seems to be a pretty generous thing of SISU not to claim for costs, if someone brought a case against me that a judge decided should not have been, I'd be pretty peeved that I was out of pocket.

Maybe others were right and this was just a way of getting more documents out in the open, and maybe SISU see the costs of this case as money well spent.

I guess we'll find out in June.
