My son is boxing tomorrow night at Ryton Connection. A charity event and he's looking forward to it. Yet he was out running this afternoon and twisted his ankle badly. He can't believe it the day before his fight and this happened. He's resting it tonight, taking painkillers, and hoping it eases tomorrow ? He will still box as I know what he's like, but feel for him as it may effect his performance ?

Ouch, how bad is it?

Is it his front foot or trailing? Plenty of ice!

He went in a chemist as they know stuff, and a woman said it's strained. He's hobbling and in pain. He says he'll just have box on adrenalin ? It's his right ankle.

3 rounds. He's been training for about 7 weeks. Another hassle is the dress code ! Been told to wear smart shirt, trousers, tie, and shoes etc. I was going in jeans and a football top !

Ice it as much as he can, wrap it up really well and bang some Ibuprofen an hour before the fight. Make sure he warms it up before the fight as well.

Yes head gear safety rules etc. Starts at 5.pm. At least 15 bouts. Never been to one of these before. Been Bell Green Club to watch bouts there, no dress code though.

Have been to a couple to watch, they usually end up in brawls anyway!

3 rounds he might be ok, as said loads of rest with ice and ibuprofen to take the swelling down.

Is your son David Haye!?

Good luck to him hard to tell without seeing him but he may be in a bit of bother!

If he can’t supress the pain when he’s warming up or even after a round consider telling him to box southpaw so he’s springing from his good ankle.

Get him to to stick your window cleaning bucket over his opponent's head to even things up a bit

Hopefully swelling and pain down in ankle this morning. Best of luck to him and hope he has a good three rounds.
And on a sartorial note; have you chosen your tie for this evening yet?

Had to give it a miss. But sod all the rigmarole with dress code, can't be arsed with all that. He's boxing again soon so will go to that, plus he's hobbling still, so not sure if hell be allowed to fight ? My ex missus is going so shell give him enough support !

He won. I never went but just heard it was a good scrap, and my son edged it. But his mate sent me a text saying he was in hospital, and sent a mocked up PIC of him knocked out on the canvas. But then my lad sent a PIC all smiles ! Bastards.

Tell him well done and to rest that ankle! Does he train at a gym or was it one of them free 6 weeks training if you sell 25 tickets?

Yes a charity thing at a gym. But he's carrying it on and fighting again sometime. He loves it, been playing football for years, but fancies the boxing, and wishes he'd chosen that now instead. But he should use his guard more, he leaves himself open a lot, but reckons he can take the punches. But he has done well first fight !
