The founding of the Premier League is unrelated to the rules concerning club ownership and football finance. On the contrary, in a different timeline we have an abundance of TV money making its way through the pyramid with clubs that are still in the hands of their supporters. When we welcomed in Roman Abramovich that's when it really started to run away.

I see Wrexham coming up into this league and dropping £50 million and it reminds me of what the game in this country has turned into. Hero worship of piss taking clubs while we look at Sheffield Wednesday's mess (Lesta's too now) and ask 'how did this happen?'.

How many English clubs have been bankrupted in recent times versus your beloved German clubs? Didn’t 13 nearly go under during Covid?

And I've said countless times they're just the latest in a long list of examples. To say I don't care about Chelsea and their Russian oil tycoon who really got the ball rolling on all this piss taking is bizarre.

Lincoln on the verge of promotion to the second tier is a great story and they've done it without a tycoon. Luton went up from non league to the Prem without one as well. Even though that came at our expense I still see it as a great football story. I just have no time for clubs who in my opinion represent what is wrong with the game.

Luton are a wonderful example of great conduct. Dodgy administrations, brown envelope payments, not paying HMRC - what a story

Wrexham’s dropping £50 million I assume refers to a share issue? Which is the same as a debt to equity share issue which Gibson did when the accounts showed a £51 million loss the previous season?

Without being too unkind I think BSB and Astute have similar intellect when it comes to football finance comprehension.

Yes. A big part of my schtick has been about how what they're doing is anti competitive by blowing up transfer fees and wages.

But like Steve Gibson they get round this by share issue against losses? What’s the difference?

Do you think Steve Gibson and his antics over the years are better than what Wrexham are doing? There - a question that needs a sensible answer

I know perfectly well how FFP works...that's not what we're discussing here. Wrexham have come up and spent £50 million on transfers and wages this season alone and overpaid for just about every permanent signing. That's one of the biggest bug bears I have over what clubs like that do for clubs who have to try and compete against them.

Birmingham are doing the exact same, just clearly less effectively.

That’s nonsense

Wrexham have made a £40 million plus share issue to offset spend

Birmingham haven’t and have “borrowed” - they will make a huge share issue if needed. This is exactly what Steve Gibson did when he couldn’t get promoted abd was a country mile off with losses getting to £50m in a year - he transferred to share capital

It’s also what we did which is why SBS and L ended loaded op with debt. In Northampton we breached every rule under the sun but equity funded in exactly the same way Wrexham did - if we didn’t can you explain how we remained viable?

I don't know how many times I need to say that it's not about how they get around FFP regulations.

Yeah I lived in Manchester in the mid 80’s and sometimes went to Maine Road. They were in the second division - Mick mccarthy was the captain. Booed off every week when they lost and a laughing stock. I’m sure they’d want those times back instead of Premier league and Champions league success. Who do these “jaded” fans support now? Salford?

St Pauli for a couple, others who just became less interested and drifted away.

If you fall out of love with your club, you don't necessarily have to adopt another.

Yup, now retired and lives around here. He doesn’t ‘long for the second division’, he does feel the club has moved too far away from the one he grew up supporting.
