Spot on. Have read some rumours that parachute payments are possibly being scrapped in the not too distant future. If we went for it spending tens of millions on transfer fees / wages etc. and failed to stay up, then the plug was pulled on parachute payments, we would be fucked. First we need to go up, of course (which I think we will). The magic number is something that allows you to have a fair go at staying up with enough saved over as insurance if you don’t. As I’ve said before though, there’s a big question mark over King himself. If he sells up to someone with deeper pockets that changes the equation somewhat.
hope they drop into playoffsAfter their win at Sheff Utd they were singing “we are Premier League”.

I would be very happy for Middlesbrough to go up in 2nd and us 1st. I wouldn't have a problem if it was the other way round. It's 6 points. Why wouldn't we want them to go up with us.
I think there would have to be a phased withdrawal. You can't have teams committing to spending plans and then have the rug pulled after the event.Spot on. Cant wait to play Mac CityWhen people talk about going up and facing teams they talk is about Arsenal Mac city or Liverpool ,Staying up is not about getting results against these teams anything you get against them is a bonus. You have to make sure you have a team strong enough to mix it with the rest of the Premier League.I feel sure FL will give us a team we'll need to do that.
Enjoy the ride.
Would be the most Cov thing ever.
My fear tooWould be the most Cov thing ever.
I am very much against us the parachute payments but if they are stopped where will the money go?
Spurs as they're the biggest club in most dire needI am very much against us the parachute payments but if they are stopped where will the money go?
No not really, keep the battle for second place going as long as possible I think will benefit us?Ah yes the bigger picture of reducing our promotion chances.
The top 6/7 clubs don't have enough money, so obviously into their pockets.I am very much against us the parachute payments but if they are stopped where will the money go?
If anything it would simply mean that we’d be going up at just the right time before the drawbridge is pulled up.Spot on. Are you being serious? Middlesbrough winning tonight INCREASES our promotion chances? Go and have a lie down.No not really, keep the battle for second place going as long as possible I think will benefit us?

In the long run I don't see why not,and I'm not advocating for them but I certainly don't want them to lose. Are you being serious? Middlesbrough winning tonight INCREASES our promotion chances? Go and have a lie down.
Fair enough. To my mind if Middlesbrough lose tonight they are all but gone as a threat to us. Effectively 9 points behind with 11 to play, in terrible form, and with tough games on the horizon. In the long run I don't see why not,and I'm not advocating for them but I certainly don't want them to lose.
The notion we want Boro in good form to play others is nonsense.I think people are over thinking it at times, A blues win has got to be the best for us, and that doesn't mean Boro won't still take points off other autos rivals when they play them.
Our wage bill will rise if we are promoted even if we don’t sign anyone. Every player will have promotion clauses. This idea we can just go up and pretend to still be a championship club is a nonsense.
Because everyone's saying that's what we'll do!
I imagine because even if we win tomorrow, we're still not likely to finish above you, neither are Ipswich and both of us and Ipswich certainly aren't.Oldboyskyblue has just posted on the Middlesbrough forum the following:
"Win tomorrow, and I really hope you do , things will look a lot brighter"
In what world would any Coventry City fan be hoping Middlesbrough win tomorrow? Utter woke nonsense.
With due respect, until we are guaranteed promoted I hope you lose every game.I imagine because even if we win tomorrow, we're still not likely to finish above you, neither are Ipswich and both of us and Ipswich certainly aren't.
And before anyone says "What about Hull, Millwall, even Wrexham...?" Just no. It's not happening.
Nowhere near the best side the league has ever seen tbh. They’re still going on like they’re the best side the league has ever seen.
As much as they’re saying spend like Sunderland and we’re guaranteed safety!
Like it or not we’ll be a PL club with PL costs.
But will be less likely to do so if you lose tonight. The notion that any Coventry fans is rooting for a Middlesbrough win tonight blows my mind.I imagine because even if we win tomorrow, we're still not likely to finish above you, neither are Ipswich and both of us and Ipswich certainly aren't.

Who said anything about guarantees? He’s talking about aiming for relegation FFS. We will lose money at this level. And look at Leicester and Luton, there’s no guarantee of success post relegation. If all you care about is minimising losses we should have stayed in L1 playing in Northampton. Because this club is only sustainable in a smaller ground with much lower wages or in the PL. so if you don’t want the latter and you don’t want to lose money, you’re advocating for that. So no, he and you are not right actually.

Remember so many seasons we were nowhere near the playoffs and looking at those sides like they were basically in another stratosphere.
And again, no one has suggested any different to the last line about having PL costs.
I've never put an arbitrary figure on what we should or should not spend, all I've said is don't put us in hoc for another decade trying too stay up.
Theirony being that in an earlier post you accused me of making things up in my head to get angry!
They were wank, took 6 easy points off themNowhere near the best side the league has ever seen tbh.
Compare us (or even yourselves for that matter) to the likes of Fulham when they went up with Mitro and Co...Not even close.
