every team feels like they are hard done to by decisions. facts are that over the season they balance out. you got lucky with Hackney not being sent off the other week. It's not, as he mentions that the underlying issue is that it shouldn't come down to decisions if all is well. He knows changes need to be made within our approach, takes that on the chin, and always absolves his players of guilt, blaming himself instead (as he did about the first half against yourselves for example)
But when it comes to lifelines being given, they should be consistent. The Leicester game tbh I wasn't surprised to see the eventuality, think that was merely the most recent in his mind at the time.
But our penalty against Oxford and your penalty against us should have had the same outcome, either they were both penalties or they both weren't.
In my own opinion they both were, so I'm hardly going to begrudge you yours. But we should have then likely beaten Oxford with one, (despite their record against the top 4 they offer less going forward to try and come back from a goal down) and as a result had more breathing space ahead of Ipswich.
A fact which won't be lost on Hellberg, and by not mentioning it, there's more chance it will go unnoticed by those that run the game and are ultimately responsible for inconsistent decisions, which I'm sure you'd agree the Championship has been rife with this season.
We can all point to decisions that haven't gone the way of our team. What I would complain at is the fact that Oxford handled too in similar circumstances in the box and unintentional or not, by the same laws of the game, penalty to Boro would have been the only right decision.
When that decision has been laid bare with reasoning in just the game previous and would pretty likely have put us 8 points above Ipswich and not 6 to nullify their games in hand.
This is fair, but really it pales into comparison with how many nailed on penalties we haven’t been given this season. As in an eye watering amount.Nah, it clearly perplexed and frustrated him and he had a great point.
IMHO Targett's handball in our game against you wasn't intentional, but that's not the point. It may have came at a crucial time when we pulled a goal back and were dominant which made it frustrating at the time, but it came when it came and by the laws of the game, it was a penalty, I wasn't surprised to see it given and have no complaints about your being awarded it at all.

I can perfectly understand Hellberg's reaction to this.
Lot more balanced since XmasThis is fair, but really it pales into comparison with how many nailed on penalties we haven’t been given this season. As in an eye watering amount.
The truth is really that the standard of refereeing in this league is nowhere near good enough. Ipswich and Wrexham have been the main beneficiaries of that, clubs like ourselves less so. I will repeat again though, Targett got away with a dreadful challenge against Lesta, Hackney got away with kicking out against Blackburn. So it isn’t all one way.

We've had a spate of them; in fact, clustered around the Christmas / January period there were several, possibly the most significant being Ipswich not having a man sent off for committing the same offence when on a booking that our player had been previously booked for. It was 0-0 at the time and we were on top. We ended up losing 3-0.
Oh whilst he's certainly not in the same bracket as that nutcase at Preston, Hackney can be hot-headed and on this occasion can consider himself a lucky boy. This is fair, but really it pales into comparison with how many nailed on penalties we haven’t been given this season. Portsmouth definitely the better side so far but Hull have been a threat at times. Certainly not looking like a Hull win here
Pompey battering hullO-0 HT. All Portsmouth since the disallowed goal for Hull at the start of the game
Been 1 way traffic. Portsmouth would be ahead if they had someone who knew how to shoot.Pompey battering hull
I do think the handball rules are an ass. Accidental should hold much more prominence than it does.Nah, it clearly perplexed and frustrated him and he had a great point.

Is there any video of that anywhere. I haven't seen the incident yet. That Hirst non-sending off still sends me slightly mad.

Deservedly soNorwich beating Leicester
Pompey 69% possession and 14 shots to 1
It will probably end 1-0 to Hull
I'd be more worried if they didnt have such difficult fixturesHull are irritating View attachment 49526
