No I think the interest was reported in 2023/24 season before Vik was sold and he joined Bordeaux
By who? When? I’ve genuinely not seen any praise for our recruitment since Austin took it over.
And even if you take that receipts into account we’ve spent far more than most non parachute clubs. I’m not going over this again and lol reacts a vague “everyone knows” aren’t an argument.
We had to. We also had that big sales income, which clubs get only infrequently. And even if you take that receipts into account we’ve spent far more than most non parachute clubs.
You can feel how you like on Austin’s recruitment was just clarifying when the link was.It was the end of 22/23 from what I can see so maybe six months after Austin joined and we were named along with a host of championship clubs the consensus on here seemed to be it wasn’t a valid link. But sure. It doesn’t change my feelings on Austin’s record.
Because apart from Friday nights EFL games are very rarely on TV on weekend late kick offsOur game against Southampton moved to 12:30 again. On tv.
Why do we never get a later kick off? (Apart from at Christmas)
You have previously said that Hamer would drag us through matches on his own (Transfer Rumour - 25/26 Summer Transfer Window).
With that being so, surely you agree that absent of a player of Hamer (or Gyokeres' ilk) to be as competitive as we are, the recruitment all over the pitch has on the whole been very good.
That’s a bonus for me as I am away that weekend so can still watch itOur game against Southampton moved to 12:30 again. On tv.

I feel like I’m talking to a brick wall here so I’m going to repeat my criticism of Austin for the eleventy billionth time and then trust you guys are capable of reading and comprehending which I get is a huge gamble but honestly I’m so tired boss.
We have spent a lot of money on players. More than pretty much the entire league. I would expect us to get promoted. The reason we are at the top this season has more to do with historic underperformance of the parachute clubs (clubs receiving parachute payments can afford larger wage bills so often finish in most of the top three positions leaving fourth and below as the target for most non parachute clubs) than it does to do with an amazing transfer strategy or a genius manager. This also applies to Middlesbrough who has spent a bit less per player but still more than everyone else.
In a normal season we’d be 3rd or 4th behind a couple of parachute clubs which is pretty much exactly where we are in the spending charts.
Like a striker who scores at or below his xG I don’t see this as evidence of adding value beyond what you’d expect. When we get promoted we will be at a financial disadvantage and as such will need to get more than our moneys worth. I do not think Austin is capable of this. His signings have generally been just OK and have cost an awful lot of money. We have consistently failed to attract the kinds of bids we expect for example for van Ewijk and we have spent a lot of money on players who have failed to hold down a place.
I would prefer it if our head of recruitment showed some aptitude in finding players valued below their ability as Badlan consistently did because I feel that would both increase our chances of staying up next season without significant investment and of recouping our outlay on players if we don’t.

That's ignoring the fact that our starting point was very low.We have spent a lot of money on players.
They play again in the league next Saturday, Hopefully Wrexham lose tonight and then learn what it takes to beat them next week. So, we all rooting for a double whammy in the FA Cup tonight?
Ipswich to beat Wrexham, therefore causing more fixture congestion for the Tractor Boys and a halt in production of The Miracle Of The Racecourse Ground Boys movie.
Best outcome, surely.
Be good if Hull beat Chelsea too.
Thanks Otis I was just coming on to see who'd got the honour tonight, now I don't need to!,So, we all rooting for a double whammy in the FA Cup tonight?

Our first play off team consisted of Gus, Vik, loanees, players that had come up with us from League 1 and a handful of others,.
Gus and Vik were sold, the loanees went back to whence they came, many remaining were squad players (three remaining from the previous season you would class as bona fide first team players - O'Hare, Sheaf, Bidwell).
If you say 'we've spent more than others' then there has to be context to that. Others had a stronger base, so didn't need the same outlay.
Since that huge rebuild following that season, I do not think our spend has been particularly noteworthy in relation to equivalent clubs.
According to Transfermarkt they've spent €29m this season. We've spent €13.6m.No it’s not we’ve signed a whole new first team. And other teams sell players too it’s the Championship FFS. Just taking Boro in the last couple of years Finn Azaz and Latte Lathe went for as much as Vik and Gus. We aren’t special, you just follow us.

Are you new here? Can’t moan that much can we?
According to transfer market we're 13th for net spend this season
MVE was a great signing, £3.5mOn Badlan vs Austin, did he find us some gems. Absolutely Hamer, and McCallum come to mind but…
He also brought in Dacosta, Kane, Walker, Waghorn, Hilbner, Reid, Tayo (palace LB) and Tavares (harsh to add compared to some of them).
I think we are a bit revisionist to stay that Badlan brought in only gems when he also had his fair few failures and wasted money when we didn’t have much to waste.
I think Austin’s only real Gems have been Sakamoto (£1.3), McNally (All be it a loan but he was great for us), Torp (£2.5) and I think I would put Dovin here (£1.9) but understand that might be too early.
But his goal was to get us to the top six (alongside managers) and that has been achieved for three of the three and a half seasons he’s been here. Can’t moan that much can we?
Don’t disagree to be fair. Was just thinking around under £3 million for some odd reasonMVE was a great signing, £3.5m
