I'm old enough to remember the complaints from old farts, people who would have been around the age I am now, when Ansell's bitter was moved from Birmingham to Burton on Trent. "It's not the same." "They've ruined it." "It's all in the water."

All this foreign beer brewed at home is shite. Saw somewhere they put glucose in them to appease the British tastebuds. For the amount of lager drunk in this country the choice is awful. The equivalent lagers abroad are clean and crisp and no hangovers. I was drinking prooer German brewed Hofbrau last weekend, lovely stuff.

My mate organised a trip to Ansells brewery in brum back in the day. Rumour had it that you got a free couple of pints at the end of the tour. Anyway, after 10 minutes of the tour, the girl guiding our group said “you don’t really want to see how it’s made, do you?” And promptly took us to the bar. They had a buffet laid on too, and it was an open bar till we were kicked out at 11.pm. Lovely.

£3 each, and that was for the coach. Tour was free.

from that day on, my mate was known as someone who “could“ organise a piss up in a brewery. Legend.

The Staropramen they make in Prague is so much nicer over there, than when it gets over here A stronger fuller flavour than ours, maybe they export the dregs to us.

Most of the stuff you see here is brewed here under license, that's why it tastes like shite. However, Lidl sells the Czech brewed one in bottles for about £2 each, it's the only place I know that does it. Like you say, it's miles ahead.

Exactly where I am with it.

We had the great run then wobble. The sides below us are on a great run otherwise they wouldn't have caught up so quickly. They have had luck just like we did during our run. No side is playing great football but are grinding out results.

Is that even Italian? I don't recall seeing over there tbh.

The Porreti over in Italy is nice, deeper flavour than you get here.

They had an unfiltered lager that was awesome, I forget the name but it's from Calgary. That is a drink. Made me fart like a bastard tho

Yeah, Moretti is Italian and is everywhere.

I think you're talking about Ichnusa Non Filtrata - it's lovely on tap.

Well it should be a shootout between those two for second place, rather than what it is now which is a scrap between 3, potentially 4 sides for two spots. Just a pity that illness wreaked absolute havoc on our results at the worst possible time.

They haven't helped of course, but a lot of us said that the only thing that would stop us wouldn't be other teams, but an injury crisis. Which we effectively got.

The German beer Purity Law of 1516, prohibited the use of preservatives or chemicals. Apart from yeast which is now allowed, it is still in force.
Although it still gives you a hangover, it's a "pure" one!

There's no reason why we can't go on another good run. Sheffield United won't be easy as they're on a great run at home just like we are. Middlesbrough is a very important game we must not lose but is at our place. I think the games for this month should get us 10 points or so.

Oxford H
Middlesbrough H
WBA A
Sheffield United A
Stoke H

10 points would put us on 68 points with 11 games to go. We have Hull A in April and Watford A in May but otherwise all our better opponents are at home.

I probably posted about it after checking a few months ago - I was wondering why UK beer tastes so sweet...i'm sure it didn't use to be like that.

Good to see this this thread is back onto its core topic.

I found a post about glucose syrup in beer on Reddit last night. According to that, it's added to supplement malt as its much cheaper. But according to some of the posters on there it shouldn't sweeten the beer as it's all turned into alcohol.

Anyway, all this talk of beer and I can't even drink it anymore. I'm off for a cider.

Nah, don't think Hellberg does mind games tbf, he likes to keep people guessing.

It was just a straight up statement for him, when he was a teenager Chelsea were his "English team" which most Scandinavian football fans have (and who were dominant in that period) Their ethos for controlling games probably appealed to teenage Kim as well.

Lampard was in his prime and was the player he looked up to the most.

Jesus wept, he had a good game on Saturday but that's 3 goals in 25 games. Why on earth would you sign him if we went up?

I didn't realize his scoring record. Maybe it's because he's scored 2 of those 3 goals against us. In any event, I think he's an old school bruising centre forward who uses his size well, has a decent first touch, gets into good spaces and shoots reasonably well from what I've seen. As far as a his goal-scoring woes, I don't know if he's missed any matches due to injuries/suspensions or if he's lacking proper service. Anyway, just my thoughts.

If you’re going to sign a championship striker, surely you go for the Norwich lad (23 I think)

how would missing games effect anything? he's still only scored 3 goals in 25 games

there's no world that exists where people should look at him and think "Premier League"
