Will the FA be fining the Southampton player for cupping his ears to the pompy fans

Matsuki must be close to a booking, he's on about his 4th foul so far.

I can’t see Pompey having the quality to survive, honest hard working side but just not quite good enough

Nah. Southampton will already have a 500 page dossier constructed by a high priced lawyer saying "Portsmouth fans started it"

I think it’s gonna be a case of others being worse. Tbf to them they’ve ground out a few decent results lately but they ain’t got lots of quality.
Charlton would be my guess of the team to join Oxford and Sheff Wed.

Yeah, really surprised to see Southampton players having another polite request for the opposition to calm down and not behave like that so soon after last month.

It couldn't be an issue relating to them, could it?

Blackburn and WBA are in serious trouble. Both out of the bottom 3 by 1 game. 1 point in the last 5 games for WBA and 2 points in the last 5 games for Blackburn. All clubs other than Sheffield Wednesday are picking up more points. Blackburn are only out of the bottom 3 by a GD of 3.

I still don't get how. They've not looked that bad every time I've seen them.

Said most of the season I thought they were in a false position. I guess we're at that stage of the season where I admit I am probably talking a load of bollocks.

To be fair your club over the years have overspent their earnings as much as most clubs at this level but because Steve Gibson isn’t a Hollywood billionaire it seems more acceptable to some

It isn't "the wealth of their owners" that is moving them forward any more though, is it? It was in their promotion from non-league, League 2 and had a hand in their promotion from League 1, but now in this league, up against clubs with more in their owners' bank accounts,it's a lot down to their TV coverage primarily in the states.

Regarding your mentioning us, yet we've never exceeded FFP have we, despite this? So to say we've "overspent our earnings," like Derby for example, is a bit of a stretch to say the least.

We get bigger attendances and have more "local" fans than Wrexham do which helps, but the fact we're generally better at spotting players, developing them and moving them on for profit than most of the league and also have a top academy over the years we can sell from which is pure profit have much more to do with this. That's more about having a well-run club with a good business model. Wrexham don't have to do this due to their TV coverage. You do know we've made well over 100M from player sales in the last few seasons, with add-ons still coming in too, don't you? Add this on top of the relevant TV money,, sponsorship deals, match-day revenue, merchandise and hospitality income from the Riverside and Rockliffe events and easy to see why FFP isn't a problem for us, even without the parachute money that tips the balance in some clubs' favour, meaning we have to choose managers extremely well and recruit much more carefully, like yourselves.

Besides all this though, we're never described as "plucky underdogs" anyway, unless in relation to the parachute clubs. Wrexham get described with this tag sometimes in relation to the rest of the championship in general, which I think is ridiculous. Obviously our opinions may differ on this.

Unless you're referring to the Boro of about 25-30 years ago in the Prem of course? Even then we were predictably dwarfed by the regular European sides of the league we were in, plus one or two others, like Newcastle fur example.

Steve Gibson over the years has ploughed in £250 million of his own money.

For a period of over 5 years in the championship they had spent more on wages than their actual total income. They get round FFP rules by the way Gibson puts in a mix of equity and loans.

They are without Gibson a chronically insolvent football club and have been for years.

For what it’s worth I don’t care as I don’t believe in the financial rules which pretends clubs are solvent when they are not.

What I don’t see is why Gibson is any different to any other billionaire who gets round rules to suit him but seems to escape critiscm
