I'm sure Ipswich fans will be concerned about their next batch of games. They have Leicester, Millwall and us - all away in their next 4 matches.

Everyone also needs to remember that "form" isn't two games. Standard amount of games to be considered form is 6 games.

The current form of the top 6:

Boro 13 pts +4 GD
City 13 pts +3 GD
Ipswich 11 pts +5 GD
Millwall 11 pts +1 GD
Hull 9 pts -2 gd
PNE 7 pts 0 gd

Thankfully we have a manager who has handled this sort of pressure many times as a player and has the right mentality to keep people on track. We need to strengthen next month and we surely will do.

In all likelihood, and this is just common sense speaking, we will be overtaken by the likes of Southampton, Ipswich and Middlesborough if we don’t strengthen the team in January.

I’m not buying into the hype and media furore surrounding ‘Frank Lampard’s Coventry’ after a fantastic start to a season, and I will not accept we’re automatic promotion material unless we’re around the top 3 come March or April.

There are too many good teams in this league, teams with experience of yo-yoing, and we have to dig in and accept we’re not promoted yet.

If Southampton average half a point more than us in every remaining game we will still finish above them. Every time we win the points difference per game needed will go up even if they also win. They were lucky against WBA at home last game. Every stat was against them. They recently lost to Millwall. They need better form than we've had so far just to have a chance. Just playoff form should be enough to get us over the line.

The CBS is a fortress. We've played 9 at home and 11 away so far. We've also played most of our more difficult away games.

Stoke have lost 5 of the last 6, they need to try something. They need to pick up otherwise MR may be in danger of the sack.

I find it mildly amusing that Ipswich lost at Oxford and drew at Blackburn away before beating us and Stoke and are now all of a sudden are a dangerous team and on the up. Does losing and drawing away recently sound familiar to anyone else?

Their home form has been good all season, they have been pretty hopeless away though, 1.33 ppg so far.

They’ve only played Birmingham, Boro and PNE away from home in the top half and drew one, lost two.

We’ve played Millwall, Stoke, Boro, Ipswich and PNE with a record of 3-1-1. We’re in a good place going into 2026 because even if we have a ‘worst case’ scenario and lose to Southampton and Birmingham, our away schedule eases up somewhat.

People think you need single figure losses to reach 90 points but:

Sheff U | 24/25 | L 10 | 90 points
Leicester | 23/24 | L 11 | 97 points
Leeds U | 23/24 | L 10 | 90 points
Sheff U | 22/23 | L 11 | 91 points
Fulham | 21/22 | L 10 | 90 points

5/9 teams to finish on 90+ points since 21/22 have lost double digit games

7 points required to maintain the run rate but frankly, we’ve got to get revenge on Ipswich. It’s definitely doable at home with a relatively full strength squad.

We could really do with blowing Swansea away in the first half and emptying the bench.

It's possible we could score more points in the second half of the season than in this first half.
Of the current top 6 we only play Hull away, further down the table, the teams that could be dangerous (Southampton, Stoke, Leicester, Wrexham) we play at home.
Of the teams likely to be in relegation trouble, Wednesday should already be relegated when we play them, and we have Portsmouth and Oxford at home.
Our last 8 games are, Swansea (A) Derby (H) Hull (A) Wednesday (H) Blackburn (A) Portsmouth (H) Wrexham (H) and Watford (A)

Leicester getting desperate in their striker search:

Michail Antonio: Ex-West Ham forward training with Leicester City

Ex-West Ham striker Michail Antonio will be given a chance to restart his club career with Leicester City.

"Potential return"
I love Hamer - would have him back at the drop of a hat.
There is absolutely no way it is happening though.
