Massive let off for Luton. Not sure that was offside. What the fuck was their goalie doing? They look terrible.

Those two maniacs at the back for Plymouth have been superb January signings. Will keep them up.

Assume Alfie Doughty would be out of our price range?

He probably still has some Prem interest but if not, go all in I say.

If there's a chance we could get him we should be all over it , would be a great addition
their best player just been playing in a really poor all season

Cant help but think what a shambles Luton made of the prem. absolutely no attempt at staying up or building the team. What a kick in the teeth for us as I think we would have made a far better go of it

They had a decent go really. They have made a strategic decision, playing a longer game.

TBF I hope Luton win this as Plymouth have just been constant with the niggly fouls

That ground is worse than a lot of L1 grounds so I hope they think it will be money well spent. The weird low roof camera angle is like when the BBC visits a non league ground for the FA cup 3rd round
Liam Walsh subbed off and Alfie Doughty is fat

Eustace will be pleased about that result, neither team below Derby have climbed above them.

I would hope if we manage to go up. We do similar, buy the ground, massively invest in the training ground, etc. Set us up properly, give it a go but be smart with players and contracts, with an eye on going again in the Champ. Saying that, I'd be furious if I was a Luton fan with a serious chance of back to back relegations.

It is a shame though, if not just so we would have been guaranteed a statue for Robins!

Their longer game is likely to put them back in league 1 that I cant see them getting out of very soon. Reminds me of people that said it would do us good when we got relegated from the prem thinking we would piss the league and go straight back up

I think the parachute payments stop if they get relegated again, definitely not part of the long term plan...

Don't think relegation this season was in the plans either. Look at how many tipped them to go straight back up.

Their players will be an available at rock bottom prices as they will be forcing moves away.

A player under contract has a say but can't force anything.

Remember Gyokeres saying we were asking for too much for him? King held his nerve and got far more than most thought was possible. Hamer also went for a good price considering just 1 year left.

If you want a player you either meet the asking price or risk the player going elsewhere. More than 1 year left on the contract? Pay the price or forget it. They won't be skint as they still have parachute payments due.

Luton are a good example of what happens if you get promoted to the PL before you’re ready.

I’m not sure what would’ve happened to us if we’d have gone up. It would’ve been sensible for us to use some of the windfall to sort out a long term arrangement over the ground. However I’m sure that would’ve been a lot less expensive than Luton having to build a whole new stadium.

You’d think we would’ve had a bit more money left over to invest in the squad

They’re a good example of what happens if you get there in a fluke without building club capacity and spend all the money on a stadium and not players. I don’t that that applies to anyone else in this division tbh.

Was speaking to Dave boddy about that. He genuinely felt that in yok and Hamer we had two players of genuine top quality and that we could make a better fist of it than Luton
Who knows eh

We’d have stayed up I’m convinced of it. But I suppose everyone aside from Luton fans think that (every one I spoke to was clear they’d spend the money on the club and go straight back down)

It's all about surviving the first season in the Prem. It needs to be done without taking risks. What is needed is putting together a lower Prem side that's good enough for the Championship without breaking the bank on wages. We already have some players good enough for this like Wright, Rudoni, EMC and Dovin. What we do have is team togetherness.

Yes we would get hammered at times. But the aim would be 17th. Fail? Go back down with a stronger squad that should compete at the top of the Championship with money.
