Jonathan Rowe off to Marseille - another good player on their day leaving the division and weakening a good team. I know Norwich signed another guy for £11m

Norwich lost some good players this summer. Don't expect top 6 from them this season.

Think they are rumoured to be spending money on a very highly rated forward. Is love it if Sargeant was sold. He is very very good at this level.

Ipswich have made some fantastic signings. Think they could be a dark horse in the prem. Their forward line is unreal.

Believe Spurs take 50% of the proceeds as well.

Championship teams losing star players all over the place. If we can hang on to everyone (and add a CDM) that's a bloody good window for us by comparison.

The Jack Clarke thread on the Sunderland forum is absolute magic. Opened two weeks ago celebrating his contract extension, all of them buzzing and praising the owner, it's now turned into a riot with them all going mental. Beautiful bed time reading.

20 mil is a huge fee for Sunderland if they can reinvest it smartly. Although probably going to hamper them for the current season.

That's including 5 mils add ons and a 25% sell on. So really they have about 11mil to spend.

Still plenty to spend. I wouldn't really care if it wasn't for the meltdown.

Take into consideration they paid £5m for him from Tottenham too - it’s actually pretty shit business for an English player that’s still only 23

Yeah, now you mention it doesn't look great, especially after Leeds sold Rutter for 40 mil, and Clarke still had 2 years left to run on his contract. Sounds like maybe he was forcing a move a little?

Same sunderland fans moaning about not spending any money then moan when they sell Clarke. Can’t have it both ways.

Leeds might have sold Rutter for £40m but they paid over £30m (“up to £36m”)

Sunderland’s Clarke sale is probably better in margin % (and maybe even absolute terms).

They're hoping to sign two strikers today, Roco Simic and Wilson Isidor

Norwich City have emerged as surprise contenders to sign 22-year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder Reinier from Real Madrid. (O Globo - in Portuguese)

That's poor, 15 mill for a man of Clarkes talent with the English tax, should be closer to 30mill imo. It does make you wonder how much they'd want for Cirkin or Ballard.

Its 15m and Spurs getting 25% of that.
when they sold Ross Stewart last season for £8m the owners never allowed it to be spent on transfers. They said it covered the running costs of the club.
sounds very similar to one of our previous owners

You can do lots of damage in this league if you've got £20million to spend.

Problem for them is who the fuck wants to go to Sunderland?

Looks like it’s actually £15m with 40% going to Spurs
