Watford in real danger this year i feel.

Sarr and Pedro gone, and hardly inspiring signings coming in.

Saw some pictures of Leicester in training and they have a formidable squad at this level really don't they! Ricardo Pereira, Iheanacho, Vady, Ndidi.. I can see them exceeding Burnley's points tally unfortunately.

We need to not get too despondant if we get a heavy defeat 1st game as i anticipate most teams will struggle against them this year

Not convinced Vardy should be included with them.

But crucially still keeping a hold of Gnonto and Sinisterra and well as some good young players with Champ experience now such as Cresswell, Hjelde, Gelhardt and Drameh

I wouldn't guarantee either of the former players will be at Leeds at the start of the season. Sinisterra has been lightning when I've seen him but his stats are incredible. 5 goals in 19 games but only 875 mins on the pitch, an average of a goal every 2 games and only 45 game mins per game. Sounds like a super sub. Gnonto I will agree is an absolute gem, a total bargain for what he can provide. But both are regularly being linked to another club and I don't think Leeds will hold on to them. And Sinisterra is out with an ankle injury for an undefined period.

As for the others mentioned, Gelhardt was generally a failure at Sunderland last season, Drameh has been steady during his loans at Cardiff and Luton and has got some good reviews but nothing world-shattering.

IMO, they will have some exciting games but the atmosphere at Elland Road and their crowd will affect more results than the team on the pitch.

Leicester there remind me of Watford last season, big name players but struggled in the championship. Let's hope they repeat their fate

Stoke are making some good signings

Travers from Bournemouth
Ben Pearson from Bournemouth

Hoever on loan again
Vidigal on loan
Chiquinho on loan

Them and Blues alongside us have had decent incomings

got a bit bored at work and looked at the last 10 years worth of teams relegated, every year i feel we say the same about parachute payments etc and that they'll be certain to bounce back up...its just not the case, some "interesting" facts!

- out of last 30 teams relegated, only 10 have been promoted first time of asking (6 autos vs 4 playoff winners)
- out of the 20 that didn't achieve immediate promotion, only 3 got promoted in their 2nd season
- average position of relegated teams in first season in championship is 8th
- the 3 relegated teams have never all achieved immediate promotion
- There has only been 2 years where none of the relegated teams got promoted immediately
- only once has a team been relegated in their first year in the championship (i'm sure there's a documentary somewhere about that one)

Whilst i get they're favourites for obvious reasons, unlikely they'll all do well.

I was saying this to my mate the other day.

Its very unusual for all 3 relegated teams to seriously challenge.

You often have one that gets an auto place, one that just misses the play offs, and one that ends up about 13th

The parachute payments have got larger over that period though haven't they? Does the data suggest the likelihood of bouncing back up is greater in 2022 than it was in 2012?

Every season since Covid the two automatically promoted sides have either just been relegated or were relegated the season before.

Norwich and Watford (1st season down)
Fulham and Bournemouth (1st and 2nd season down)
Burnley and Sheffield United (1st and 2nd season down)

Basically we need 1 of the 3 to shit the bed to have any chance don't we. Which of of the 3 would people pick to potentially flop?

Given that tweet above, I would say Leeds.

If you can only sell players for £3.5m that you paid £120m for, you’d have to say the club has some serious competency issues at the top

not sure on payments size or when they've increased tbf.

in last 5 years
5/25 got promoted in year 1
3/20 got promoted in 2nd year
average position was 7th

In 5 years prior to that
5/25 got promoted in year 1
0/20 got promoted in 2nd year
average position was 9th

seems the parachute payments are favouring the teams more if they fail at the first attempt to go up recently

one thing that jumps out is that 1st place for the last 3 years has been taken by a relegated side (Burnley/Fulham/Bournemouth)

I don't know about Leicester, Maresca is completely unproven as a manager - he's only had one proper job at Parma and was sacked after a few months. There's no indication he's capable of taking the lead in managing a club. It will at least take some time for Leicester to adopt his style, and he may not get on with existing players.

Leeds have got Farke so they could end up doing well, but recruitment doesn't look great at the moment.

Don't really know anything about Southampton.

Rumour has it that Cardiff about sign Kieffer Moore on loan…although this rumour seems to come from the Mrs D’s Dad. I’m not sure how reliable he is a source…he once told me he voted for the SDP.

Everyone has Leicester winning it but I don’t see it. Coady was poor last season for Everton hence why they chose not to sign permanently. Never rated winks, lost their 2 best players from last season. Glad we are playing them first day give them a proper welcome to the championship.

He’s a risky appointment, I’m pretty sure he got sacked after a third of a season by Parma.

Yeah he did. Can't remember anyone raving about their great football either

More resources this time round however. Maybe he impressed people behind the scenes. Time will tell

In their first friendly they were already playing the Man City formation where the right back moves into central midfield. It will be interesting to see how it works in the championship.

That is interesting.

Fear these three are fairly strong by usual standards. Southampton and Leicester had a long stretch in the Prem, and Leeds are Leeds, despite being a bit of a mess, still have a very able squad.

Yep - feel this is absolutely the case - three very strong sides.
Also, with us playing Leicester first, due to window being still wide open, they could conceivably field their strongest side of the season against us (before selling players wanting out) while we are still at average strength with business still to do.... only Leeds away would have been a tougher opening fixture....

It's how they adapt to a lower level, bit being used to it. If they treat teams with respect, work hard, they'll do well. If they think it'll be a walk in the park...

Best time to play them is first game

I remember we played Wigan (albeit at home) and Millwall after they’d just been relegated from The Championship under Mowbray in our first two games once and we blew them both away - Teams take a few games to find their feet in a new division

That just leaves them with Harry Souttar (£15-£20m), Wout Faes (£15m), Jannik Vestergaard(£15m), and Callum Doyle.

I don't think they'll be panicking just yet.
