Kind fixtures and they have it in them

Teams can go on run of 4 or 5 wins on the spin. For that 5 game block said team would be showing form equivalent to 100 points over a season would they not?

Data can be interpreted any way someone wants it to be

Fair enough, just can't see either side sustaining Championship winning form for that long. Boro have lost a few times of late, very strong at home but less so away from home.

I get that, I'm mainly basing it on Wilder for Boro, a top Championship manager.

And as for Sheff Utd, they've been on great form for a while now (bar Saturday)

Kazim-Richards stretchered off at Blackburn, so no big lummock up front for them on Saturday. At least we know what we'll be facing in advance.

Yeah I'd agree with this. I think his achilleas heel has always been the sheer lack of squad depth though. Behind the Starting XI there's pretty much little to no support, with the exception of a few talented academy graduates who by large are all pretty untested in the Championship.

It comes down to whether we can stay in touch going into the last 3 games.

West Brom - nothing to play for
Huddersfield - resting players for the play offs
Stoke - nothing to play for

All hypothetical, but means probably 12 pts from the next 7 games to have a chance. We have won the last 3 games of the season before!

I know it's not the most important thing but I can see our remaining away games being some of the best atmosphere's we've had this season, if not the last few.

Forest - Local(ish) rival, both have something to play for
Fulham - new ground for a few, even though it's a Sunday should be a decent day trip to London
Birmingham - local rival, expecting a win, bank holiday
WBA - local(ish) rival, not been there in over 10 years,
Stoke - last game of the season, will be party mode regardless of whether we have anything to play for

Agree with the top two. I can't see Huddersfield dropping off now though and there's zero evidence to suggest otherwise.

Blackburn's form is shocking at the minute so I wouldn't be all that surprised to see them drop out.

I'd back Forest to be in the top six by the end of the season. They've also got two games in hand on Middlesbrough - one to be played tonight. Their form at the minute is ridiculous as well.

Sheffield United will probably get there however they can't sustain any more injuries otherwise they'll stand no chance as shown by last Saturday's performance.

QPR probably won't finish 4th either based on current form. So for the last spot I'd suggest it's between Luton and Millwall who I think are a bit of a dark horse at the minute.

Wouldn’t rule out WBA either if they get a bit of momentum with the squad they’ve got. Final 2 fixtures Reading and Barnsley

Big task to turn their form around to the point where they can mount a promotion push again. Don't be overly fooled by last night's result, apparently Fulham were appalling and looked dead on their feet.

Equally I think if anything the fact their last two fixtures are against Reading and Barnsley could go against them as both will probably still be fighting for their place in the Championship.

We really can do with 6 points vs Hull and Derby. Then we could afford a draw or 2 and maybe a loss without too much harm done.

But it's getting the 6 points next 2 games will be tough.

We havnt won 3 in a row all season. Good time to start.

I'll be happy that if we can get to the Forest game and still be in the mix. We will be in with a fighting chance at home to Blackburn. need a minimum of 6 points from the next 3, ideally more. Hoping that Forest pick up an injury to Brennon Johnson, Djed Spence and Keinan Davis (2 out of the 3 will do) Max Stewart and Steve cook have been ruled out for 6 weeks, so will be out against us. I see that Brereton-Diaz is targeting our game for his comeback. Don't mind that, as he is hardly likely to be match fit.

On the basis of the fixture list, our chances are pretty low, hence the odds.We do not have a strong enough side imho to win a string of games against top teams - which is what is required.

Assuming Huddersfield and QPR are in, that leaves 6-7 clubs for two places. The odds must be against us. Middlesbrough look good to me and Forest and Luton both look stronger than us.

It remains Robins' achievement that in his five years however we have been promoted twice and contenders in two other seasons and just had one season of consolidation/escape from relegation. Having something to play for in March, five years in succession. Massive stuff on bugger all money

Reading have the more favourable run in. Bottom 3 will stay the same.

Geunine question - what do Luton have that we don't? Why can they finish top 6 but we can't? Surely they don't have a bigger budget than us

A lot more relevant if you are a WBA or Stoke fan, with the budgets at their disposal.

A few on here were joking about Lutons summer recruitment at the start of season. No one laughing now.

I think the ability to grind out results. That's not to knock their achievements so far, they are a good team. But we definitely don't seem to be able to do that as well, barring a couple of games this season.

Given Jones was a relative failure at Stoke too.

Should have really given him more time there, as he was dealt an unbalanced ageing squad in a mess.
