NEW BOSS WILL FACE CITY CRISIS

MARK Robins looks set to be unveiled as Coventry City's new manager in the next 24 hours.
The former Rotherham and Barnsley boss was on the Sky Blues' short list of three and became the overwhelming favourite when the club were unable to agree terms with Paul Ince.

Caretaker Richard Shaw's prospects were wrecked by a run of four consecutive defeats, culminating in last night's 4-1 collapse at Shrewsbury Town which left City second bottom of League One.

He insisted last night that he did not know who will be in charge for Saturday's home game against Carlisle.

But when he was asked if he thought the current squad could haul could battle clear of the relegation zone he admitted: “You're probably asking the wrong person.“

The man who became a Sky Blues legend during his playing days conceded: “That was an embarrassment * lack of motivation, lack of desire, whatever you call it I don't know, but they just didn't deliver tonight.

“They're fine in training so you can't explain it when they concede cheap goals like that.“

Asked if he felt let down by his players, Shaw added: “I think they let themselves down and they let the supporters down. I'm disappointed * of course I am * because you say the right things before the game and at half-time and for some reason they don't do it.

“I suppose I do feel let down but we move on and we'll see what happens on Saturday. I've no idea if that was my last game, but I've always said that something needs to be sorted out sooner rather than later because the players need direction, they need to know where they are.
We need stability “Being a caretaker you can't really lay down what you want to in terms of discipline or anything else * at the moment it's left in limbo.

“Whoever comes in it's a big job because you can see where the football club is financially, where the team is in terms of confidence.

“By the same token, if you can get it right here I know what the club is capable of.“

So Robins has to join knowing he was 2nd choice from the board.

We should let him know he was 1st choice from that list with the fans.

Yeah we should. Fans need to get to his first home game and give him a big welcome - banners, the lot. F*ck 'The Guv'nor' - he's a shit Manager that none of us wanted. We've dodged a bullet there.

Yeah, by luck rather than board choice we may have got the better of the two men.

Thank God Ince didn't agree terms.

He could have been a success, but was just as likely to have been a disaster.

With Robins we will have someone at least who should be able to steady the ship and I think we'd all take that right now.

Thank God for that!

Ince would have been the final straw for me!

Welcome Mark Robins "The Saviour" :claping hands::claping hands::claping hands:

As I say, Ince might have been a success. When he has had success it has been impressive. When he has failed though he has failed miserably and the last outings he has had have both failed quite miserably.

With Robins he has a record of stability and though there is no apparent obvious success in terms of promotions etc, we need this ship steadying and I think he will at least make us hard to beat and I am confident he will have us well clear of any danger.

Whether he can take us to the next level I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Feel a lot safer in the hands of Robins though. With Ince I feel that he could have taken us down if his style of man-management hadn't been accepted by the players and he lost the dressing room as has been known in the past.

If this is true we have managed to get the right man out of the two,,only because of the lack of money, not through SISU making the correct decision....

Wish we found someone who knew how to run a club instead of these fooking clowns stumbling over every hurdle and covering it over with TF and his smug way... As for SW he sanctioned all the transfers and i dont see him losing his fooking job,, the lot should go in my opinion before we go any deeper..

If he was asked what he was going to do by our probing local journos I honestly wouldn't blame him if he replied

"I haven't got a fucking clue"

happy that its robins instead of Ince. I really think he could be the man, however he has no time as results have to change immediatly. I have no words to describe how i feel about last night. Without a doubt the most depressing result i have suffered as a fan. Yes the relegations were hard but last night shows that these players dont give a SxxT and its no longer acceptable. i think robins will be the man to say show me you want to be here or get the f out of this club.

for the moment in Robins i trust. in the players and board i do not.

Saints were in dire straits in league when he took over..we can't possibly say that categorically it will not happen for us

They had money and players. We have neither.
Obviously we can't be 100% certain it won't happen to us, but I'm confident enough to eat my legs, with trousers on, if we do.

I would say Robins was the Fans' #1 choice, generally accepted when he was know to be on the 3 man shortlist (how the fuck Shaw was on I DON'T know! ) but the general consenus was to bring in Wise, although there wasn't 1 clear cut candidate and I would be happy with Robins, but Ince, I'd be dubious.

well, he saved Ferguson and Man Utd, perhaps he can do it at Coventry

In reality, he will be gone by the end of the season and Appleton / Ince and Money will be back in the frame for the position next season

Can't say I'm very knowledgable about this Robins bloke, so I can't have a lot of input. I'll just wait until around Christmas period to see how we've fared. Personally, given the team and finances, I can see us looking for a 12th manager in 12 years by the end of the season.

Like i have been saying for a while things will not change with just a new manager. He needs to be supported with at least 4 or 5 loan signings asap. The ball is in Sisu's court !!!

You've only said that because you saw the Paralympics on TV and thought I wouldn't mind having a go at that.

It was the only way we were going to get a decent manager with Pinky and Perky making the appointment!

Personally I think this is bullshit. More likely the CET trying to appear as though they had their three man short list right a few days ago. Why would we go for someone outside the three after the 1st choice didn't come? Terrible paper and terrible journalists!

I don't really know much about Robins either...as a manager anyway. I remember having season highlight videos from something like the 88-89 and 89-90 seasons on VHS, showing highlights of all our games. If I remember rightly, Robins did well at Luton as a striker over that period before he signed for Man Utd.

Hopefully one of the things he can bring to the team is some good, positive, attacking coaching for the front line.

Promising Man U youth-team product, never quite fulfilled that promise. Was at most a super-sub/backup player at Man U, bit of a talisman. Great at Norwich initially but then faded.

He is credited with the goal that saved Alex Ferguson from the sack against Notts Forest....

So if he's responsible for all of that success he can't be bad
