I quite often read a few of the comments under a CET article about the City. It makes me realise that whilst we do have some Grade A weapons that post on SBT, they're pretty much tactical geniuses by comparison to some of those!

One today made me smile talking about Robins and posted about how Robins got us relegated from L1 into L2 and that a truly great manager would have been able to save us.

When he came back, we were bottom of the league and had won one game in 19 (2-1 at home to Gillingham) with 10 games to go. In that period we were 7 points from 57 and even in those 10 games we picked up 13 points but still finished 11 from safety. We might not all agree on when was the right time for him to go, but even his harshest critics wouldn't blame him for that!

We were nailed on relegated when he took over . .
I recall we were subsequently pretty close to the bottom of league 2 for a while and I was bracing myself for the unthinkable : dropping out of the EFL altogether.
We all know what happened thereafter..

Robins made a fist of staying up. Didn’t we get relegated last home game? Had it still had been Slade we’d have been down weeks before that

I’m not convinced the CET comments are real people to be honest.

We were rock bottom.....
Robins picked up a few results and lifted us off the bottom of the table.

We had to go backwards to go forwards

Much rather double promotion than just the one but a little quicker personally.

That was only first few games too. Was always top 8 after that.

* edit, just checked and apologies we did slip to 9th for 3 games in Feb.

Considering how awful we were , it’s not surprising that the team lost the first 3 games of Robin’s return including a 2-0 home defeat to Southend, the worst performance by a City team that I have ever seen.
We were abject when he came back and Robin’s performed a miracle with those players. In the last seven matches of that season we picked up those 13 points. That is not far off automatic promotion form. We obviously also won at Wembley, Oxford being strong favourites that day.
King might have read or been told how bad things were back then. I think you would have needed to be around and to have seen the state of things to truly understand that situation and to appreciate how Robin’s somehow dragged us back.

This here was my lowest point as a fan and i remember it very well. Defeat to Colchester in Feb...

After this defeat in my mind we had become a midtable standard League 2 team and it wasn't a nice feeling. The end to this season, basically just the playoffs, was great but there were lots of lows, some thoroughly embarrassing results and it was just depressing in general.

I'm sure that Colchester one. We desperately needed changes but did nothing, they scored the second and we made a change far too late.
