All part of the master plan - we will play a cunning 3-6-1 formation and out-pass Barcelona with our skill and guile:

Murphy
Christie - Willis - Adams
Baker - Moussa - Thomas - Barton - Fleck - Daniels
Clarke

Subs: Burge, Clarke, Phillips, Lobjoit, Garner, Wilson, A N Other

ps It's a 17 man squad, not 18.

Pressley should resign on principal. (That is if he wants a job after this one of course)

Just did the maths on the outfield players:

16 players @ average age of just under 21 and average of 73 appearances.

I hope A N Other has got some mates who'll play!

How can we justify not using Edge and Malaga when we only have 1 centre back. Pressley pissing me off freezing players out.

Agree, high wages or not Edge is the best CB at the club. Why exclude him when he can do a job for us? If someone comes in for him then fine, sell him.

I would say someone is more likely to buy him when he's in the team and playing, than sat at home not playing.

Whether he wants to get rid of some players or not, while we are under this embargo he simply has to include these outcast players in the squad.

The other alternative is to throw in some kids who are not ready.

Can't see it now they've not been involved with any of pre season.

Agree Stu. They won't be match fit. Just on pure numbers he should have had them ready. Just don't see the sense in it. What happens if Willis is injured? He doesn't seem to get this embargo thing.

I see Geoff Foster thinks this squad can attain a top half finish: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23407072

But the most telling line in that preview is this one: "Best summer signing: None - transfer embargo"

No, no, no, no, no, no! (with all due respect!).

If we weren't in this situation and had a full squad we wouldn't need these players and they know it. To say 'we don't want you but actually, we're short on numbers so can you play for us?' would be a kick in the balls to the youngsters and we wouldn't be better off with a handful of players playing for us knowing they're not wanted. I know they'd be playing in the shop window but the commitment wouldn't be there.

Yes, we only have a few experienced pros and the rest are youngsters but we're not playing in Europe or the Prem. We're a League One team with seemingly talented youngsters and have a history of producing good young talent. SP also has experience of a similar situation at Falkirk and working with a young squad there and getting the best out of them.

It's time for the youngsters to stand up and be counted. I'm (wierdly) excited at the thought of a group of home grown, talented nippers who will know they have a chance to make a mark, rather than others are admittedly more experienced but won't give a t*ss about CCFC.

Respectfully,

WM

Many a kid's career has been ruined by being thrown into the ring before they are ready.

Did we learn nothing from the dark days of Gary McAllister?

What happened to that fine young talented bunch? Aren't some of them now playing parks football?

Edge did last season he was solid.. I really liked him and with the shortage of players we had I see no alternative to keeping him

Tom Bates
Ben Mackey
Mark Noon
Eddie Stanford
Craig Pead
Robert Betts
Craig Pead
Avun Jephcott
David Pipe.

Yep, let's throw in kids who aren't ready to step up.

To be fair, Edge was a bit error prone. A fans favourite, yes. A trier, yes. Solid... not quite but pretty decent.

Also, if I'd been cast aside and then was asked to fill in because we were short, I'd take that opportunity with both hands and feet and probably my head too in order to prove to the manager he was wrong. Pressley has shown he can change his mind, as he did with Jordan Clarke.

Totally agree.

Would give any player a chance to put themselves in the shop window too.

To be fair, they probably weren't good enough to make it at a decent level anyway - most youngsters don't make it. Pipe and Pead (prior to injury) had a decent league career.

The Centre Back issue baffles me. I can understand why players like McSheffrey have been told their future lies elsewhere but we currently have 1 Centre Back who has played a total of 3-4 first team games and is barely out of nappies!

Edge NEEDS to come back in the squad.

Yes I know.

But then by the same token how does that make it right to suddenly throw the current crop of kids in at the deep end? They might be good enough, they might not.

Throwing them in early though could have a big detrimental effect on their would be careers.

That is true - there's a difference between playing a youngster because they are good enough and playing a youngster because of lack of numbers. Other than centre back, there shouldn't be a problem in the short term. People were suggesting a Willis and edge partnership for this season anyway.

Ohhh a football topic...i like!

With all the crap i haven't paid much attention to the list of outcasts. Shocked Edge is one of them, error prone yeah but how many center backs at this level aren't? Decent player, arguably our best center back, out casting him is a mistake in my opinion!

Yes each, obviously Baker and Clarke drag this figure up significantly.
