I was sitting at home last night watching an old Manchester United DVD Season Review from 2003 (What can i saw, i was going through a transitional period). And it got me thinking, that was time of REAL football. A time when diving had barely been invented yet, when England harboured some great home grown talent and when Coventry were actually good. So i've had a look on Ebay and Amazon and found very little in the way of Coventry City Season Reviews. I know we used to do them as my Grandad used to have some. So i was wondering if anyone could help me out? Does anyone have any videos/DVDs of CCFC Season Reviews from the 90's/00's that they no longer want or does anyone know of somewhere i can get some?

Hold on. Your golden age of honest play and both England and Coventry being good is 2003?

Its just like, i havent got ANY CCFC videos or DVDs except the cup final. Want something a bit more recent than that. Only went to Highfield Road a few times so would be nice to see it in all its glory

Used to have the 97/98 season vid - will have a look in the garage Liam but it may have been chucked by now. Worth a look due to Dublin and Huckerby scoring a shed load between them - hatricks v Chelsea and Leeds, and only losing 2 homes games (Leicester and Villa).

Liam, you can gather the content of numerous CCFC seasons from deano's channels on YouTube. Search for either 'covonthebox' or 'SkyBluesTV'. Clips from 70s to 00s on there. The best one is the full MoTD highlights of City beating Liverpool 4-0 in 1983

That would be great guys. Really means a lot. If you can find them and are willing to sell them, let me know how much you want for them. I get paid at the end of the month so i feel like spending haha

They released them in every season from 88/89 through to 05/06 but haven't released one since (I think). I am missing the last season at HR one.

It is great watching them back but also so depressing when comparing the players with the present rabble.

The early years had commentary from Richard Key I think, clearly added after the event.

I think Stuart Linnell did some of the commentary (or at least the narrating) on the early-mid 90s ones, which is really annoying.

I'll try and dig them out over the next few days mate but I have a few long days with work so it'll probably be the end of the week. If I've not confirmed on here by Friday, drop me a PM.

And don't worry about money for them, just cover the cost of postage (probably be about £50...) and you can have them mate.

WM

I remember being excited about Eddie Johnson, thinking it was the hotshot US striker. Luckily that one turned out shit anyway, so six of one.

I think I recall Martin Tyler commenting on some of them as well. Sure he was on ITV pre-Sky TV. There's a couple of other things I remember from the couple of videos I have (late 80's early 90's)

* David Smith looked class on the wing.
* David Speedie was probably the best 'chipper' of a ball I've ever seen.
* There was a game against Norwich at home and Bryan Gunn got sent off. Not sure why I remember that.
* Some high scoring games against Middlesborough...think Speedie and Bernie Slaven both got hattricks in one game. Seem to remember Slavens being quite a good one at that.

I have had a quick dig round and there is no sign I'm afraid - I will have a more thorough search this evening, but don't hang your your hat on it being found. If it does turn up then you can have it for nothing, but as I say it looks like it may have gone I'm afraid.
I shall pm you if your luck is in (does sound a bit odd!)

I know why you remember that Norwich game I have the same video...........each game highlights last about a minute until you get to that game then there are about 15 mins of just that one match! Gunn gets sent off, mark Bowen goes in goal (he's about 5ft 5) and killer misses the target from the pen! also remember in that match speedie scores climbs the fence infront of the west terrace and cuts his hand!!!!!

I have the following videos'

88/89
89/90
91/92
92/93

I don't think there was a 93/94 or 94/95

then I have 95/96 through to 99/00

also have a skyhigh blues half season review and 101 great cov goals VHS's.

Who owns the footage from old games? If the club have rights to use it they should stick some stuff on DVD. Wouldn't be hard or expensive to do something like a sit down with Dion and Hucks talking about their time here mixed in with footage from those games.

A season review in pictures

SP was told about his player budget:

We move back to The Ricoh:

After wins against Gillingham and Yeovil, things look quite good for us:

But game after game, the fans noticed the flaws in SP's managerial credentials:

After a torrid winter, CCFC's form under SP dramatically become desperate:

"Play 5 in goal"

No win in 7 games and city were 2-0 up at Bramall Lane:

Until SP fucked it right up...

From Hero:

To Jobless:

The 2014/15 Blu-ray can just get ter fuck.

If they brought them back i would get one every season. They already own the rights to broadcast the match highlights so why not utilize them? Could be a nice little earner

Ha, yes, excatly the same experience I had as a 13 year old. I used to watch them over and over and over again. Living away from Coventry I hardly ever got to see us play when I was young so relied on The Pink and the season review videos.

I couldn't understand, based on the videos, how David Smith wasn't an England regular!

In the extended highlights game v Norwich I remember Speedie scored the winner and climbed up the perimeter fencing at the West terrace end and cut his hand open.

Great days.

Only if they charged about £5000 a copy.

Not really; even if the rights they have do allow them to sell the footage rather than just upload it, producing the material isn't free. I can't see how they'd profit from a season highlights package at all.

Might be worth trying some of the people on this thread:

http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/8987-Season-Reviews

There must be someone with copies, if we can get each VHS transferred onto a DVD they'd be pretty easy to copy so even if it costs a few quid to do the initial transfer if a few people want copies it could work out not costing too much. Can't imagine anyone is going to be too bothered about copyright on old VHS tapes you can't get anymore.

I have a VHS player so thats not an issue, but thats a good idea if others want copies too. I have old F1 reviews and Disney films aplenty haha. Cheers for the tip Dave
